Any trip through the valley should include a tour of Oregon Caves National Monument. While there visit the Oregon Caves Lodge, a National Historic Landmark and one of the great lodges of the West. Have dinner or stay overnight in rooms with 1930s furnishings. Be sure to save time to get a handmade milk shake in the 1930s era diner.

Selma’s Forests
Phone to make arrangements to visit Camp’s Forest, an environmentally oriented logging project (597-4313) and while in Selma stop by the Deer Creek Center, an historic ranch frequented by John Wayne, where the Siskiyou Field Institute is housed.
Kerbyville Museum

Go through Kerbyville Museum where many of the artifacts of a bygone era are displayed.
Cave Junction Nature & History
Just south of Cave Junction you can visit the unique botanical landscape of Rough and Ready Forest Wayside.
Take a self-guided tour of the historic Siskiyou Smokejumper Base, the first aerial firefighting unit in Oregon history. Be sure to stop at the Fort Hay Historic Site and read about early Illinois Valley history.
