  • Wednesday, Aug. 18
    • Gunshots were reported at 8:51 a.m. at a residence on Ken Rose Lane. Multiple callers reported that a young man appeared “extremely agitated,“ but no injuries were reported. A report was pending.
    • Someone was “accosting“ grocery store patrons for change in Downtown CJ, a caller said.
    • In the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy. a caller said his landlord hit him in the head, but a deputy determined that the incident was unfounded as a crime.
  • Thursday, Aug. 19
    • A Rockydale Road resident reported that she received an anonymous letter about dumping trash on another“s property. She denied dumping garbage but did state that they“ve had a problem with bears.
    • Theft of a maroon Mercury four-door from near Seats Dam was reported at 3:25 p.m.
    • Someone has been living in a travel trailer on county property at the end of Pinecone Drive for the past two months.
    • Located on Pinecone Drive, David Bruce Soukikian, 58, was apprehended on a Kingman, Ariz. warrant charging probation violation. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail.
  • Friday, Aug. 20
    • A caller reported telephonic harassment from her estranged husband.
    • On Caves Hwy. a woman stated that her granddaughter tried to stab her with a pair of scissors.
    • An E. River Street resident complained that she and her daughter were almost attacked by a large dog.
    • A woman was refusing to leave an Althouse Road residence at which she was unwelcome, a caller stated.
    • Three transient persons were warned against trespassing on the vacant lot adjacent to the Junction Inn at 3:29 p.m.
    • Someone operating an ATV on Brown Road failed to yield for law enforcement officers, who lost the vehicle in the dust.
    • Christopher Bradley Witherspoon, 26, was lodged in county jail on warrants charging failure to appear (FTA) on charges of theft and second-degree theft.
    • A man was said to be harassing patrons at Oregon Caves National Monument.
  • Saturday, Aug. 21
    • An aluminum boat which had been tied to a boat ramp at Lake Selmac for more than a week was assumed abandoned by a caller.
    • Robert James Fish, 49, was cited on a charge of illegally altering tags, and warned for carrying no proof of insurance on Eight Dollar Mountain Road at 11:27 a.m.
    • Nigel Charles James Cooper, 57, was cited on a charge of violation of the basic rule (VBR) driving too fast for conditions on Lone Mountain Road at 11:29 a.m.
    • A caller reported a truck pulling a trailer which was on fire as it traveled north on Redwood Hwy. at Sauer“s Flat. Asked for further description of the vehicle, the caller stated, “It will be the one on fire.“ Fire district personnel could not locate the flaming vehicle.
    • Joshua J. Humphreys, 20, was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol near McCaleb Ranch at 3:07 p.m.
    • Four persons near McCaleb Ranch around 3 p.m. were warned against “extracurricular activities“ and overnight camping on public land after they were found copulating on the trail.
    • Brian Ross Stober, 52, was arrested at Hogue Meadows on Takilma Road on a warrant charging probation violation on an original assault charge.
    • Ian Wyatt General, 22, was cited on charges of DWS and open container in the 100 block of Caves Hwy. at 10 p.m.
    • On Caves Hwy. at Holland Loop, Jeremy Aaron Green, 22, and Richard Anthony Smith, 51, were cited on charges of open container. Also, Green was cited on a charge of no operator“s permit.
    • On Caves Hwy. at 11:42 p.m. Matthew Stephen Atkinson, 18, was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol. Five other juvenile persons were contacted as well.
    • Noisy and intoxicated campers at Grayback Campground were said causing problems at 11:49 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 22
    • Nicolas Scott Groves, 20, was cited on a charge of failure to dim headlights on Redwood Hwy. in Kerby at 1 a.m.
    • Following an alarm at a bank in Downtown CJ, a manager wished that her extreme displeasure at being awakened early in the morning be expressed to the sheriff.
    • Two horses were loose in the roadway on Holland Loop at Takilma Road at 6:11 a.m.
    • Her neighbor“s aggressive dog came through her dog door, a caller on Terrace Heights Drive reported after locking the dog in her bedroom. The dog was lodged at Animal Control.
    • Kathleen E. Jackson-Hall, 49, was cited on a charge of no motorcycle endorsement on Holland Loop at 1:33 p.m.
    • On Caves Hwy. near Old Stage Road, driver James Steven Towe, 34, was cited on a charge of DWS and driving uninsured. Passenger Michael Allen Martinho, 29, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on charges of providing false information and failure to appear on an original charge of aiding in a fish and game violation.
    • A report of fourth-degree assault was pending after a Lone Mountain Road resident complained that her husband had been sucker punched by a neighbor.
  • Monday, Aug. 23
    • Mark Edmon Hopkins Jr., 30, was cited on a charge of speeding on Redwood Hwy. near mile marker 29.
    • After it was reported that a man set a small fire in the front yard of a Draper Valley Drive residence, Ryan Nathaniel Bishop, was lodged in county jail on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.
    • Theft of a small utility trailer and other items from a residence on Laurel Road was reported.
    • A man was provided a courtesy ride home and warned about his behavior after he intoxicatedly staggered across Redwood Hwy. and possibly exposed himself.
    • Edward Bradley Hardesty, 31, was cited on a charge of speeding (68 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. in the 27000 block at 9:35 p.m.
    • Just after 11 p.m. a caller reported that someone had thrown a vacuum cleaner at her. Subsequently, Kodi Silas Gilmore, 20, was lodged in county jail on charges of harassment, attempted fourth-degree assault, and interfering with making a report.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 24
    • Graffiti in the men“s restroom at an establishment in Downtown CJ was noted. A report for second-degree criminal mischief was pending.
    • A caller reported an explosion on Briar Lane at 2:12 p.m. Turned out to have been a shotgun. Otherwise “nothing unusual or unlawful“ was found to be occurring in the neighborhood.
    • Caryn Mari Gumaer, 45, was cited on a charge of DUII on Redwood Hwy. in Selma at 7:48 p.m. Also, she was cited on charges of DWS and open container. Her BAC was listed as .32.
    • A caller on W. Schumacher Street said that a man had been staying at her apartment, “helping her,“ for close to a week and she wanted him escorted from her home.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 25
    • Possible theft of a 40-foot long storage container was reported for an O“Brien resident.
    • Mary Jo Ardell Taylor, 46, was cited on a charge of failure to control a dangerous dog after it was reported that someone was attacked and bitten on N. Redwood Hwy. at 6:37 p.m.
    • Kenneth Michael Dupzyk, 26, was cited on a charge of no valid operator“s permit on S. Redwood Hwy. at 8 p.m. His 15-year-old passenger was released to the custody of her mother.
    • A neighbor told him that someone in a blue pickup truck removed items from his residence, a Pinewood Way caller reported.
