Drinking and driving
From Linda Schluter Tedder
Cave Junction
It was a sad day Saturday, Aug. 14. A boy, 6, was put to rest before his time.
He had the misfortune of being in a car driven by a person who subsequently was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
This is the worst scenario. Substance abuse while driving is never good. No, not even one drink.
This little guy won“t see Christmas, school, his beloved pets or any more family get-togethers. Bless this child.
Forks Park safe
From Chris Matthews
Cave Junction
I have been listening and observing the recent comments regarding Illinois River Forks State Park near Cave Junction.
Until a BLM ranger and Josephine County Sheriff“s Office deputies started patrolling this park, it was a wonderful hang-out for dregs, drugs and dogs. Now, however, laws are being enforced, and this class of people has gone elsewhere.
I have been there on many days when no one else is there. I have a 10-year-old daughter and not once in the past two years have I been afraid or uncomfortable when taking her there.
I wish they would maintain the restrooms better, and try to contain the vehicles to where they are supposed to be, but otherwise this is a wonderful place for all species. Make it bigger and even nicer.
Voters have a choice
From Tony Corriea
Merlin
Democrats Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Peter DeFazio, are not putting Oregonians back to work. While rural timber towns in Josephine County are struggling to stay alive, economically.
We need a representation that has a clear path forward for creating jobs in Josephine County.
Now we have seen cut-backs in logging, as well as federal revenue. And we have heard fairy tales about Josephine County citizens getting jobs while we are still struggling just to survive.
And lastly we are going to have an important election in November. It“s up to the voters to clean up the swap in Washington, D.C. We can start here in Josephine County. We have more than 50,617 voters we can work on. Let“s get the word out.
It“s up to us as voters. It“s our choice. The 10th Amendment reads, “We the people,“ not “the federal government.“
We want to hear from you!
