Roberta Mae (Cross) Richards

At her request, no service will be held for former O“Brien resident Roberta Mae (Cross) Richards, 62, of Canby, who died Aug. 3, 2010.

Mrs. Richards was born to Robert J. & Martha M. Cross on May 9, 1948, in Grants Pass. She died in a hospital in Canby.

She spent her childhood in O“Brien, and graduated in 1966 from Illinois Valley High School.

In 1978, Roberta married Roy Richards. She worked in health care, and was a certified nursing assistant for more than 30 years. After living in O“Brien, Roberta moved to Grants Pass, then Portland and Canby.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, R.J. Cross and Roger Cross.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Cross, of Eagle Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Willett

Dorothy Ellen Willett, 88, of Cave Junction, Ore. passed away peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 11, 2010.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at the RCC Belt Bldg. in Kerby, Ore.

Dorothy was born April 8, 1922, in Reedsville, W. Va. to Oakey & Grace (Stevens) Phillips; raised by Howard & Dorothy Grant (great-aunt) in Philippi, W. Va.; and married her high school sweetheart, Marks Lee Willett.

After World War II, the couple moved their family to Long Beach, Calif., then Lakewood, Calif., where they raised four daughters, and resided until retiring to Cave Junction in 1974. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August 2009.

Always a proficient homemaker Dorothy also worked as a baker for Bellflower School District, and in the accounting department of several businesses in California. After moving to Oregon she worked at a drug store in Cave Junction.

Dorothy was a lifetime member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Amaranth and other organizations. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Harold Phillips, of Maryland.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Marks Willett, of Cave Junction; four daughters: Jacqueline Reichard, of Madera, Calif., Jo Ann Bonde (Lenard), of Plummer, Idaho, Margaret Alfaro (Bob Nichols), of Medford, and Marsha Marolda, of Lakewood; nine grandchildren: Jan (Mike) Mytych, Elaine Reichard (Robert Brassfield), Gary Reichard, all of Madera, and Jeff (Denise) Reichard, of Coarsegold, Calif., Mark (Dawn) Kaiser, of Eagle River, Alaska, Stephen Kaiser and Ramon (Jessica) Alfaro, of La Mirada, Calif., Jason (Rhonda) Marolda, of Sunnyvale, Calif., Gina (Mike) Healy, of Lake Forest, Calif.; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Mom, we love you and will miss you, but will always have the memories to hold dear.
