From our weekly issue dated August 11, 2010

The Rogue Valley Flyers (RVF) group has announced its annual action packed radio-controlled aircraft air show on Sunday, Aug. 15 in Kerby at the Josephine Skypark.

Flying is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The skypark is accessed from Kerby Mainline Road. As admission, the club would appreciate the donation of one canned food product per vehicle, to be given to the Josephine County Food Bank. Shade tents will be provided; bring lawn chairs.

This year“s program will include flights of the always popular War Birds, demonstrations of acrobatics, streamer cutting, balloon bursting and bomb drops. Interspersed there will be opportunities for the public to fly a club trainer “ under the guidance of a flight instructor.

Returning again this year will be the duo of Mark Tobin and Alex Stephens, flying their 40 percent Yaks, modeled after the original Soviet primary trainers, in choreographed aerobatics. Added will be “gravity defying“ high-performance helicopter demonstrations.
