- Wednesday, July 28
- At 9:44 a.m. a woman stated that her neighbors were harassing workers installing a fence at her O“Brien Road residence.
- It seems that a 3-year-old child with a fondness for playing with a telephone was the cause of a 911 hang-up call from a S. Kerby Avenue residence at 1:49 p.m.
- On N. Redwood Hwy. a tow truck driver reported that he was removing a vehicle from a parking lot at the request of the property owner.
- A wallet was reported lost on N. Redwood Hwy. in Cave Junction.
- Thursday, July 29
- Contacted at 1:22 a.m., intoxicated persons, presumably pedestrians, were told to stay on the far side of the bicycle lane on Caves Avenue until returning home, which was said to be nearby.
- It was estimated that a window discovered broken overnight at Illinois Valley Pregnancy Center would cost some $100 to repair. The information was logged.
- A representative with Pacific Power asked that a deputy stand by as a contractor trimmed trees on Lone Mountain Road due to past experiences with a hostile person. It was reported that said person no longer is an Illinois Valley resident.
- Both “halves“ of a domestic disturbance reported at 7:43 p.m. on S. Kerby Avenue were told to keep their verbal disputes indoors.
- A caller stated that his neighbor caught two men taking items, including a guitar and chainsaw, from the caller“s bus on Kerby Mainline Road. The two took flight, but wrecked their vehicle, then fled on foot. A report of second-degree theft was pending.
- Friday, July 30
- On Waldo Road a caller said that he found a residence door kicked in. A first-degree burglary report was filed.
- Tools and other items were reported taken from an unoccupied residence on Ken Rose Lane.
- On S. Junction Avenue someone reported that someone else was shooting at a running dog at 1:10 p.m. A deputy was unable to locate an injured animal.
- A stolen car was recovered on Caves Hwy. The vehicle was secure, with the key on the seat, but the owner could not be located.
- Jimmy R. Delzell, 55, was cited on W. Lister Street on a charge of violation of a municipal code prohibiting alcohol on public premises.
- Gabriel Alan Williams, 34, was cited on charges of driving with a suspended license (DWS), and driving uninsured.
- A highly intoxicated man found lying on one side of W. River Street at 9:48 p.m. was provided a ride to his sister“s house.
- There was a complaint from Madrona Drive that someone nearby was using fireworks.
- Encountered at a bar in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy., Luey Magic Ocean Glen, 21, was cited on a charge of probation violation and lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass.
- Saturday, July 31
- Shortly after midnight, a fight was reported at a campground adjacent to the Eight Dollar Mountain Road green bridge. Jamie Joanne Newberry, 25, was cited on a warrant charging probation violation.
- In connection with the preceding incident, Daniel Earl Putnam, 21, was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of harassment; and Preston Earl Setzer, 30, was cited on a charge of probation violation. Putnam was released at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass due to “extreme intoxication.“
- Campers at Lake Selmac were advised that cutting downed trees for firewood is not permitted.
- At Store Gulch on Illinois River Road, a driver was cited for illegal parking after complaints, that the vehicle was blocking others, were relayed by a U.S. Forest Service employee.
- Kevin Anthony Miner II, 21, was cited on a charge of DWS on Deer Creek Road at 3:13 p.m. His vehicle was impounded.
- After contact on Briggs Valley Road, Mark George Miller, 44, was lodged on a Josephine County warrant charging failure to comply with terms of probation on an original third-degree assault charge, and a Douglas County warrant charging FTA on a weapon charge.
- A cell phone was reported stolen from a backpack left behind while the owner swam in Illinois River.
- Jacob J. Patrick Miller, 20, was cited on Lakeshore Drive on a charge of failure to display license plates.
- Kelsey Leaghann Arnett, 21, was cited on a charge of operating a vehicle while using a mobile communication device near Lake Selmac at 8:02 p.m.
- Judith Ann Richardson, 54, was cited on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault following a report of a disturbance on E. River Street at 8:39 p.m.
- Items, including a firearm, were reported stolen from a residence in the 5000 block of Westside Road.
- Following a bar check in Selma at 10:19 p.m., Anthony Grebisz, 22, was lodged in county jail on warrants charging FTA on original charges of attempted eluding, driving under the influence of an intoxicant, reckless driving and interference with a police officer.
- A “rowdy and intoxicated“ group of people was at an Addison Lane residence at 11:20 p.m. but they left prior to a deputy“s arrival.
- Sunday, Aug. 1
- At 1:54 a.m. loud persons had returned to an Addison Lane residence. A couple contacted advised that there would be no more noise.
- A Burgundy Lane resident complained that her car had been vandalized “again“ this weekend. Obscenities had been written with a sticky substance, and lotion applied to door handles.
- Because of becoming a nuisance, a black bear was reported on Hays Cut Off.
- A Caves Hwy. resident sought advice on landlord/tenant issues. He was advised that his was a civil matter.
- Someone said that a motorcycle and ATV were being driven at Laurel Cemetery at 8:30 p.m.
- At 10:53 p.m. an EMT reported that a man wearing a white tank top and operating an older, yellow dirt bike passed an ambulance on the passenger side, and then turned in at High Pines Trailer Park in Kerby.
- Monday, Aug. 2
- Six “gunshots“ were heard from Schumacher Street at 12:11 a.m.
- On Lakeshore Drive at 1:01 a.m. Eddie Dwayne Buttram, 33, was cited on a charge of DWS and warned for failure to maintain a lane of travel and driving uninsured. The vehicle he“d been driving was impounded.
- A woman on Lakeshore Drive was upset that her vehicle had been impounded, and she said so.
- Following a report at 2:19 a.m. that a man was on the roof at Art“s Red Garter Saloon “tearing“ the electrical system, Immanuel Angel Day, 20, was lodged in county jail on charges of first-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
- After investigation, Guy Lennon Hudson, 51, was cited on a charge of third-degree theft and warned against trespassing at Junction Inn.
- A caller noted a continuing problem with the driver of a white pickup truck who seems to purposely drive too close to bicyclists on Caves Hwy.
- On Caves Hwy. a man said that two dogs ran through traffic to attack his dog and that he was attacked as he tried to break up the fight. The dogs“ caretaker was advised to keep the animals contained.
- Tuesday, Aug. 3
- An alarm sounded at Perfect Pizza on N. Redwood Hwy. at 1:41 a.m. A window was found “jimmied,“ and it was thought that the alarm frightened away any would-be thieves.
- A complainant said that her husband had witnessed a man punch a dog on W. Watkins Street.
- His mother had been robbed of $250 by someone who fraudulently used one of her checks, according to a Selma caller.
- From Lakeshore Drive came a complaint of harassing and threatening phone messages from a woman“s former boyfriend.
- Grants Pass resident Mike W. McCormick, 56, was arrested by city police after a high-risk felony traffic stop. The vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen a short time earlier by a city resident who had left the car with the key in the ignition at shortly after midnight.
- A “disgruntled“ former employee had threatened to arrive at a rural Cave Junction business and “take care of“ someone with whom he“d had a dispute, a caller said.
- His son was receiving “disturbing“ text messages from his ex-girlfriend“s father, a father said. A message was left warning the caller against telephonic harassment.
- Leonard James Crocker, 25, was cited on a charge of speeding (67 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Burch Drive at 5:08 p.m.
- In Kerby, a woman said that someone removed money from her wallet without her permission.
- Lone Mountain Road residents were said to be harassing a neighbor regarding a water issue at 2:14 p.m.
- A 25-by-25-foot metal shed was reported stolen from an Old Redwood Hwy. site.
