Oregon liquor revenue down for cities, counties

Oregon cities and counties will receive less in liquor revenue allocations this year as the state general fund“s share will increase to more than $97 million.

The city of Cave Junction and Josephine County allocations have dropped by $981 and $19,487 respectively.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) distributed nearly $172 million to Oregon cities, counties, state general fund, as well as mental health, alcohol and drug treatment services in the 2009-2010 fiscal year.

More than $97 million dollars went to the Oregon general fund, an increase of almost $3.4 million from fiscal 2008-09 figures.

Cities and counties received $3.7 million less in revenue allocations than in “08-09, netting $66 million to support their local budget items including public safety.

Some $8 million was dedicated solely to supporting Oregon“s mental health, alcoholism and drug services programs. Another $267,306 went to Oregon“s Wine Board, which helps support Oregon“s wine industry.

During fiscal “09-10, OLCC“s total revenue was off from the “08-09 total by $1,798. The money is distributed to cities and counties based on population.
