Willian sentenced in sex case
From our weekly issue dated July 28, 2010
Cave Junction resident Dennis Willian, 66, was sentenced to nine years in state prison on Thursday, July 22 after pleading guilty to five counts of first-degree sex abuse.
Willian entered his plea into Josephine County Circuit Court in Grants Pass on Friday, July 16. Deputy District Attorney Ryan Mulkins, who prosecutes most of the sex crime cases in the county, said that Willian was indicted on 15 counts of first-degree sex abuse.
The guilty plea was part of a deal with prosecutors, Mulkins said.
Because first-degree sex abuse is a Measure 11 crime with mandatory minimum sentencing, Willian will be ineligible for alternative programs or early release.
Willian also was sentenced to post-prison supervision, Mulkins said.
The charges against Willian were based on allegations that he abused a 5-year-old girl on multiple occasions during 2002. He was arrested and booked into county jail in Grants Pass on June 10.
At the time of Willian“s arrest, he was living near Evergreen Elementary School in Cave Junction. Willian was represented in court by Victory Walker from the county public defender“s office.
