Some 90 dogs made their marks, as the St. Bernard Club of Southern Oregon held a three-day show in the Cave Junction/Selma area on Friday through Sunday, May 21 through 23.

The program consisted of a draft test, a weight pull, obedience trials, rally trials and conformation shows.

Dogs came from the Los Angeles area all the way up to Canada and any spot in-between. The St. Bernard that won the Westminster Kennel Club 2010 show was present, as well as a number of Top 10 St. Bernards in the nation.

On a very wet Friday, the draft test was held. It consisted of an obedience trial, a maneuvering course and a long-distance freight haul in which off-lead dogs had to pull a loaded wagon. Two of 12 entries earned their Draft Dog Titles during this test.

Friday evening, a weight pull was held during which 13 St. Bernards tried to outdo each other as to who could pull the most weight.

The top weight pulled: 2,996 pounds.

Saturday and Sunday consisted of the conformation, rally and obedience shows at Lake Selmac. Overall, an estimated 200 people spent an enjoyable weekend in Illinois Valley and patronized valley businesses.

The top winner on Saturday was a bitch from Canada. The top winner on Sunday was the #1 Saint in the nation and the winner of Westminster 2010.
