Commish candidates“ coffers counted

Incumbent Josephine County Commissioner Dave Toler has lost the fund-raising advantage in the 11-man race for his seat, but has more cash saved than any of his rivals.
As of Friday, April 23, the Oregon Secretary of State“s office Website stated that Toler has amassed $16,629 in total contributions. That included a $175 donation from county Treasurer John Harelson dated March 30; and a $1,000 contribution from Cave Junction-based Renewable Energy Systems dated April 2.
Toler has expended $10,665, including $1,180 paid to Medford television station KDRV. He also has paid for print advertising with various outlets. An ending cash balance of $10,740 was shown for his campaign account.
Illinois Valley resident Simon Hare, 31, has surpassed Toler in fund-raising, with $20,862 in total contributions. That included a $300 donation from Dutch Boy Paints on April 15, $350 from Gloria McMillan on April 14, $250 from the Martha M. Phillippi Trust on April 17 and $250 from Rough & Ready Lumber Co. President Link Phillippi, also April 17.
Hare“s campaign account showed $18,392 in expenditures, much of which has been spent on signs and print advertising. He had an ending cash balance of $2,926.
Constitution Party of Oregon Chairman Jack Brown has received $4,788 in contributions. His account summary showed $5,250 in expenditures and an ending cash balance of $149.
Jadd Horban, 29, has received $855 in small cash contributions. His account showed $703 in expenditures, including purchase of yard signs. Horban had an ending fund balance of $252.
Campaign accounts for candidates Dale Matthews, Mark Seligman, Eric Gade, John Lesh, Ed Bowers,
Rycke Brown and Tony Paulson did not show any contributions or expenditures.
