The man convicted of murdering former Cave Junction mayor and city councilor Tom Green was found dead in his cell at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institute in Pendleton on Sunday morning, April 11.

Timothy Waddell, 21, was serving a life sentence for the Dec. 10, 2007 murder. It occurred on Sawyer Avenue in Cave Junction in front of Green“s residence, known as Tom“s Home, as he often provided accommodations for youth. Waddell had lived there for a time.

A Monday, April 12 press release from the Dept. of Corrections (DOC) states that Waddell was found unresponsive in his cell at 9:50 a.m. Prison security and inmate staff were unsuccessful in their attempts to resuscitate Waddell, DOC said.

Waddell was incarcerated at the facility May 12, 2009. An Oregon State Police team is investigating, DOC said, as standard practice for the deaths of all state inmates.
