Wildflowers subject of Rough & Ready hike
From our weekly issue dated April 07, 2010
A spring wildflower hike at Rough & Ready Botanical Wayside on Sunday, April 18 is being co-sponsored by the Native Plant Society and the Cultural & Ecological Enhancement Network (CEEN).
Susanne Vautier and Rose Kilpatrick will lead the hike and help identify plants and flowers. The unique soils of Rough & Ready Creek are home to many interesting plants, and the hike is geared toward plant enthusiasts and novices alike.
“It“s a great opportunity to come enjoy the spring wildflowers no matter what your skill level on plant identification is,“ said Vautier.
The hike will be short, on rocky but relatively level ground. A portion of the hike will be along wheelchair-accessible paths.
Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the wayside parking area along Redwood Hwy. at mile marker 34. Dress prepared for unpredictable weather and bring water.
Phone Vautier at CEEN, 541-592-23939 for more information.
