APRIL ASSAULT AWARENESS - Illinois Valley Safe House Alliance (IVSHA), recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, will host a viewing of Open Window, a film about the harsh realities of rape, on Tuesday, April 6 beginning at 6 p.m. The presentation will be held at IVSHA“s Advocacy Center, 103 S. Kerby Ave. in Cave Junction, next to the DMV office. Snacks will be served, and a lively discussion is anticipated.

NOTEPAD - The Illinois Valley Lions are proud to announce that Gary Thornhill has been named grand marshal of the 2010 I.V. Lions Labor Day Parade. The theme of this year“s parade is Illinois Valley - Through The Eyes Of A Child. The parade will take place on Monday, Sept. 6. Applications for the parade and vendor spots are available. Wristbands sporting an “Everybody Loves Larry“ message will be available about town soon, said Michelle Yeoman. The wrist ware is being sold to support 2008 IVHS graduate Larry Ragsdale, who remains comatose following a head-on motor vehicle collision near Corvallis on March 12 ... Illinois Valley Golf Course reports that Gene Benschoter and Ryan Watkins each made a hole-in-one in February.
