CANDIDATES CONVENE - Candidates for a seat on the Josephine County Board of Commissioners will face questions and offer views during a forum co-sponsored by Illinois Valley News and Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, March 25. The public event at the Josephine County Bldg. in Downtown Cave Junction will begin at 6 p.m. Submit questions in advance by email to

WHAT A HAM! - American Legion Auxiliary #70 will hold a Ham Bingo get-together on Saturday, March 27 beginning at 6 p.m. Cards are 25-cents apiece, and prizes are Easter hams. Also, there will be a snack bar, 50/50 raffle and other prizes.
HOSANNA HAPPENING - Caves Christian Fellowship will hold a Palm Sunday service and potluck at Bridgeview Community Church on Sunday, March 28 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Caves Christian typically meets at Lorna Byrne Middle School, but will hold Palm Sunday service at Bridgeview, 5181 Holland Loop, Cave Junction.
BRUNCH BUNCH - Kerby Belt Masonic Lodge will serve a brunch, and present an indoor flea market, on Sunday, March 28 at the RCC Belt Bldg. in Kerby. Brunch will begin at 9 a.m. and include biscuits & gravy, hash browns, ham, eggs and other breakfast favorites. American Legion Post 70 will host bingo beginning at 11:30. NOTEPAD - “Support Larry Ragsdale,“ a Facebook page, has been established for friends and family to post encouragement for the 2008 IVHS graduate, who sustained serious injury in a head-on traffic crash near Corvallis on March 10. Ragsdale is reportedly still in a coma following surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. Some 340 people have signed on ... Regular hours at the Illinois Valley Branch of Josephine County Libraries Inc. are Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. The library is at 209 W. Palmer St. in Cave Junction, just down the street from Carlos“ Mexican Restaurante ... Three scholarships worth $2,500 apiece are available through IVHS Alumni & Friends. Senior students can obtain applications in the IVHS counseling office. All applicants are eligible for the $500 SOFCU Community Credit Union/Roni Rausch Broeffle Community Service Award.
