Grove aiming for Miss Teen America
From our weekly issue dated March 24, 2010
A Cave Junction teenager is seeking support and sponsorship to help make her way to the Miss Teen America pageant, slated for May 29 through 31 in Portland.
Illinois Valley High School sophomore Katrina Grove, 16, has been accepted to participate in the pageant. All she needs now is assistance in raising money by April 2 for the entry fee and travel expenses.
The pageant will feature competition in areas such as talent, runway modeling, spokes modeling and acting. Grove said that she plans to perform a commercial skit to demonstrate her talent.
That is a natural choice for Grove, whose hobbies include singing and acting. She is a member of the IVHS Choir.
In the long-term, Grove said that she plans to become a physician and start a family.
“I“ve had my plan since the fourth grade,“ she said.
If Grove wins the pageant, she will receive a $50,000 scholarship.
She can be contacted at Katingrove15@hotmail.com.
