  • Wednesday, March 3
    • Michael Raymond Knitter, 22, was cited on a charge of improper display involving a license plate on McMullen Creek Road at Lakeshore Drive at 8:47 a.m.
    • Jason Andrew Bergstad, 35, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on a charge of probation violation following a disturbance at Siskiyou Market at 4:26 p.m.
    • Two car-loads of young people were drinking beer at Jubilee Park on the baseball field, a caller said at 5:35 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 4
    • At 2 a.m. it was reported that someone was hiding behind buildings in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. Also, a burgundy-colored vehicle with temporary license plates had been left on the parking lot.
    • Following a dispute between a tenant and landlord in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 10:22 a.m., the landlord was advised to contact a lawyer.
    • Heating oil, perhaps as much as 85 gallons, was reported stolen from an O“Brien residence.
    • Off-road motorcyclists were racing up and down Holton Creek Road to the consternation of a man who phoned at 5:04 p.m.
    • Neely Nicole Wheelon, 37, was cited on a charge of speeding (64 mph in a 45 mph zone) at mile 31 on Redwood Hwy. at 8:14 p.m.
    • Pamela Jean Vallee, 45, was cited on a charge of speeding (64 mph in a 45 mph zone) on S. Redwood Hwy. at Watkins Street at 8:07 p.m.
    • Following contact at 11:44 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy., Eddie Avon Ledlow Jr., 35, was lodged in county jail on charges of manufacturing, possession, distribution of a controlled substance/methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a precursor substance, menacing, and pointing a firearm at another. A “large quantity“ of meth was found on Ledlow“s person, a deputy noted.
  • Friday, March 5
    • Scott Thomas Armijo, 19, was cited on a charge of speeding (66 mph in a 45 mph zone) in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 7:28 p.m.
    • An Aries Lane resident reported receiving a threatening letter from two men. He requested deputy contact to discuss the contents.
    • A highly intoxicated man with a bloody face was found lying face-down on the pavement on N. Redwood Hwy. near Laurel Road at 9:02 p.m. He was transported by American Medical Response to Three Rivers Community Hospital (TRCH) in Grants Pass.
    • On Lakeshore Drive a blond woman was found in a ditch at 9:26 p.m. She was found to have two felony warrants out of California, but they were non-extraditable. She was transported to TRCH.
    • A Pine Cone Drive resident complained about people in older model 4x4 pickup trucks who use the area as their own “speed racing track“ until the early morning.
    • Numerous people were said to be throwing fireworks onto the roadway in Downtown Cave Junction at 11:02 p.m. Subsequently a “highly intoxicated“ Luey Ocean Music Glenn, 20, who provided a BAC of .34, was cited on a charge of probation violation and, after he was medically cleared, lodged in county jail.
  • Saturday, March 6
    • Following a glass-break alarm at Ray“s Food Place in Selma, it was discovered that a large plate glass window at the front of the store had been shattered. A report for second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief was pending.
    • In Downtown Cave Junction at 12:44 a.m. a caller complained that someone had slashed two tires on his vehicle. Witnesses gave the name of the suspected tire-slasher to lawmen.
    • Contacted on Takilma Road, Ryan Paul Jantz, 35, was cited on a charge of restraining order violation and lodged in county jail.
    • A marine deputy took to the Illinois River at Pomeroy Dam at 10 a.m., planning to float to a location off Eight Dollar Mountain Road.
    • On Laurel Road at 10:19 p.m., Mark Anthony Bernardini, 52, was cited on charges of driving while suspended (DWS), and driving uninsured. He was warned about eluding and failure to carry and present (a driver license).
    • A U.S. Forest Service employee reported at 10:41 a.m. that three chainsaws which had been locked together with a stout chain were stolen from the 26000 block of Redwood Hwy.
    • On S. Old Stage Road, Judd Everett Wood, 32, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured.
    • Upon returning to her daughter“s residence in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. a woman reported that two people were in the house, and she didn“t think that they belonged there.
    • Seven youths were contacted after a report of “kids on the roof“ at Evergreen Elementary School at 8:30 p.m. With the exception of one 10-year-old who is a student there, the youths were trespassed from the property.
  • Sunday, March 7
    • Today was a quiet day in Illinois Valley, aside from a traffic crash involving a small motor home on Redwood Hwy. in Selma.
  • Monday, March 8
    • A vehicle on the parking lot at the Illinois Valley News office was reported broken into the preceding day at approximately 4:30 a.m The glove box was rifled, but nothing appeared to have been taken. One window was smashed.
    • A caller said that a man against whom she has a restraining order wrote obscene words in the dust on the tailgate of her pickup truck while it was on a parking lot on W. Watkins Street.
    • Deputies responded to N. Junction Avenue on a report of a man harassing a woman. Later, the couple were seen driving past in the same vehicle, and nothing appeared amiss, so the incident was closed.
    • Someone was “doing donuts“ on a vacant lot on Hanby Lane, throwing mud over a 5-foot tall fence, according to a complainant.
  • Tuesday, March 9
    • Asked to take hold of his dog so that other people using a boat ramp at Lake Selmac could take their dogs off a boat, a man became belligerent and brandished a gun, a caller said. When identified, the man is to be trespassed from the park.
    • A property owner in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. wanted a tenant evicted because she was “running her mouth.“ The parties were advised to stay clear of one another, and were advised of their civil options.
    • A woman reported that a man was terrorizing her. Deputies went to the Kerby location noted and found no one there, but seized more than an ounce of marijuana which was in plain view; and for safekeeping, a rifle.
  • Wednesday, March 10
    • While walking on the middle of the roadway on S. Redwood Hwy. in Cave Junction, a man had been screaming, said a caller. The man was given a courtesy ride to his residence at 12:28 a.m.
    • Drumming, and a yelping dog, were reported by a Takilma Road resident at 1:13 a.m. She said that it was not the first time for the drumming.
    • On S. Junction Avenue a woman reported that her son-in-law was screaming at her and refusing to return the keys to her residence. Also, she said, he was taking some belongings and she didn“t know if he was taking stuff he shouldn“t.
    • Raylene Francis Walker, 19, was cited on a charge of speeding (73 mph in a 45 mph zone) on N. Redwood Hwy. at 7:48 p.m.
    • Joshua Caleb Beeler, 26, was cited on a charge of failure to obey a traffic control device following a traffic stop on Redwood Hwy. at Cottage Park Drive at 9:07 p.m.
    • A woman complained that someone had forged her signature on a letter which stated that a residence in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy., where her father lives, could be rented.
