  • Friday, Feb. 19
    • On surveillance footage at Illinois Valley High School, a student was caught stealing food from another student“s locker.
    • A yellow motorcycle and helmet were located behind a locked gate at Caves Creek Campground. The bike was impounded.
    • Someone accused of shoplifting (third-degree theft) was detained at Shop Smart Food Warehouse for a time, but released prior to a deputy“s arrival.
    • Four folks in a vehicle were contacted after-hours at Illinois River Forks State Park. The driver was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS).
    • In connection with the previous incident, one passenger admitted to possession of marijuana, and another owned up to having three bottles of liquor. Those already clients of the correctional system were advised to contact their probation officers.
  • Saturday, Feb. 20
    • A small child at a residence on Lakeshore Drive was thought responsible for a 911 call at 9:05 a.m.
    • Three llamas were seen on the Hogue Drive roadway at 8:47 a.m.
    • A “beat-up“ pickup truck was reported parked at Forks State Park. The license returned to that of a vehicle the owner said was stolen.
    • David Michael Karczewski, 46, was cited on a charge of no operator“s permit and improper display. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.
    • On N. Old Stage Road at 12:20 p.m. a broken bottle found smoking was thought to have been some sort of improvised explosive device. No one was reported injured.
    • A vehicle left parked at a Downtown Cave Junction business overnight had been hot-wired, driven some distance away and ransacked, a caller said.
    • Rachel Alexandria Dent, 26, was cited on a charge of speeding (42 mph in a 30 mph zone) on N. Redwood Hwy. at 4:25 p.m.
    • On S. Hussey Avenue, David A. Kime, 57, was cited on a charge of making an unsignaled turn.
    • Paul Wayne Landfried, 53, was cited on charges of DWS, driving uninsured, and defective lighting. His vehicle was impounded.
  • Sunday, Feb. 21
    • Loud music coming from a residence on S. Sawyer Avenue was complained about at 2:13 a.m.
    • At 2:30 p.m. a woman stated that several ATV and motorcycle riders tried to run her off Kerby Mainline Road because they did not care for her slow driving.
    • A verbal argument between family members grew into a physical disturbance involving neighbors at Kerby High Pines trailer park around 4 p.m. Rock-throwing, screaming and threats made with a shovel and baseball bat ensued.
    • Subsequent to the previous incident, Brandon M. Davis, 19, was cited on charges of dangerous drugs and failure to appear on a menacing charge. A report regarding fourth-degree assault was pending.
    • Ryan Daniel Gaynor, 32, was cited on a charge of failure to use a seat belt on S. Redwood Hwy. at 5:12 p.m.
    • In the 700 block of Caves Hwy. a landlord complained that a tenant had been throwing knives and making threatening statements and gestures toward other tenants.
  • Monday, Feb. 22
    • Lorey Renee Ellis, 33, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on a charge of restraining order violation.
    • A man, upset with his lunch order, became belligerent, yelled and flipped off the proprietor of a Downtown Cave Junction restaurant and took all the comment cards.
    • Someone broke the screen on a video lottery game, reported a Cave Junction restaurateur.
    • A home owner on E. River Street complained that someone had shot a projectile through the front window.
    • On Rockydale Road at 8:08 p.m. a caller reported that his neighbor“s girlfriend“s ex-boyfriend had run the neighbor off the road and pointed a gun at him. Deputies in five patrol vehicles responded. A report of menacing was pending.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 23
    • A Lone Mountain Road resident reported that when his vehicle was repossessed, his medical marijuana was inside. He was advised to contact the finance company to make arrangements for retrieving his stash.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 24
    • In the 32000 block of Redwood Hwy., Dorman Zachary Hanna, 27, was cited on a charge of cutting timber without a permit.
    • A man stated that four people threw bottles at his truck while parked on a lot on W. Watkins Street at 7:38 p.m. Also, one of the men took a swing at him, he said.
    • A report for harassment was pending following a complaint from somewhere in Illinois Valley.
