From our weekly issue dated February 17, 2010
A proposal to allow social gaming within city limits will be on the May 18 election ballot, the Cave Junction City Council decided Monday night, Feb. 8 in city hall.
The vote, following the second reading, was 4-0 with Mayor Don Moore abstaining. Included would be bingo, lotto, blackjack, raffles or Monte Carlo events.
A request to allow social gaming was made late last year by Andrea Thomas, of Nacho Mama“s in Downtown Cave Junction.
In other matters, the council and mayor voted 5-0 to OK the following:
- A request from Siskiyou Community Health Center and Illinois Valley Early Childhood Council to use amplified sound at Jubilee Park on May 1 for the annual Children“s Fair & Pet Parade.
- A similar park request from Spiral Living Center for its Farm & Garden Festival on Sept. 11.
- The second reading of an ordinance to modify the city“s codes regarding Local Improvement Districts (LID) and Advanced Financing Districts. Developers no longer will be allowed to use those financial mechanisms, but the city still will be able to initiate LIDs.
- A resolution for the city to be included in a countywide Enterprise Zone.
