What makes a pizza perfect“
Grandma Kathy“s secret French Bread recipe is the “bread & butter“ at Perfect Pizza Plus. This hand-tossed dough is so fresh, it“s perfect.
Whole-milk mozzarella cheese from New York, combined with tasty toppings from Taylor“s Sausage — smoked ham, spicy pepperoni and linguica, makes a mouthwatering meal.
An Illinois Valley resident since 1994, Scott Thoms bought the pizzeria from Dave Prince three years ago. Thoms wanted job security without commuting to Grants Pass, so he could spend more time with his wife, Nicole, and their 3-year-old son, Dominic.
Dan Prince has been with Perfect Pizza Plus off and on since his brother, Dave, originally bought it nearly eight years ago. He returned from the U.S. Navy, and is now the manager.
Between the two, they have two decades of pizza-tossing experience, which also adds to the “Perfect“ in their pizza. Dan“s favorite pizza is the Spice of Life plus olives, while Scott prefers the Pride, with sausage, pepperoni, onions and bell peppers.
The two have come up with 21 different pizzas, including Toss the Pigs, Bigfoot“s Bash, and the Monster. Other delicious varieties include Chicken garlic supreme, Cajun chicken, Pesto Primo and the Greek. New specialty pizzas are Chicken bacon ranch, B-B-Q chicken and Double bacon cheese burger. Calzones are also available.
As for the Plus — the menu includes more than just pizza. Breadsticks are available in garlic and cheese, jalapeno or cinnamon, or try some crispy Jo-Jo potato wedges. The Italian salad is a large meat and vegetable antipasto for only $5.95. World Famous La Nova Buffalo wings round out the menu at seven for $5.99 or 15 for $9.99.
Pizza and beer are an American classic, and there“s quite a selection of brews to choose from at Perfect Pizza Plus. Budweiser, Miller Genuine Draft, Coors & Coors Light, King Cobra, Mickey“s Ice and Busch beers are all available. Craving something different“ Try “Wild Blue,“ an after-dinner blueberry beer.
Perfect Pizza Plus offers the lowest prices in town, with specials like the large pepperoni pizza for $8.95 or two large two-topping pizzas for $20. Three slices of pizza and a 20-ounce soda for $5, or a single slice for $1.25 makes a great lunch special.
On those rainy days, take advantage of pizza delivery, which is available after 4 p.m. within an 8-mile radius, for a reasonable fee.
Perfect Pizza Plus is located behind I.V. Video on the corner of Hwy. 199 and W. River Street. The business is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
