- Wednesday, Jan. 13
- Someone reported that someone else was fraudulently using her bank account to make online purchases.
- Damage to a gate keypad and antenna at Illinois River Estates was reported by a developer.
- Joshua E. Patton, 31, was cited somewhere in Illinois Valley on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS) and warned regarding a defective headlight. His vehicle was impounded.
- At 8 p.m., a woman phoned from Lone Mountain Road, stating that she “tried to buy pot from a guy there, and it went bad.“ She ran off, but did not know where she was. She was located and given a ride to a location where she could contact her boyfriend.
- Thursday, Jan. 14
- On N. Redwood Hwy. at 1:16 a.m. Elinor C. Davis, 25, was cited on charges of speeding (44 mph in a 30 mph zone) and driving outside of restrictions.
- At 6:24 a.m. a custodian reported that a slender, “intoxicated and possibly high“ woman wearing all-black clothing was wandering outside Lorna Byrne Middle School, which she mistook for a police station. The woman was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass on a police officer“s mental hold.
- Three people camped near Rough & Ready Creek were warned regarding trespassing and told to remove their vehicles and belongings within three days.
- A suspected shoplifter was said to have fled Shop Smart Food Warehouse at 12:31 p.m.; then ran to another store where he discarded his sweatshirt and knit cap. He was not located, but a report of third-degree theft was pending, and the clothing was taken as found property.
- “Several“ students at Lorna Byrne Middle School were in the office at 1:42 p.m., having been found in possession of marijuana, said the dean of students. The contraband was to be turned over to a deputy.
- Some $500 damage to the gate, window and door of a vacant home under construction on Green Valley Way off W. Hanby Lane was reported.
- Following a report of a woman who would not leave a Kerby location, Melissa J. Lowenstein, 43, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on charges of failure to appear (FTA) on original charges of DUII, reckless driving, DWS, and resisting arrest.
- Friday, Jan. 15
- Theft of a license plate from a vehicle in the 9000 block of Caves Hwy. was complained about.
- After apprehension at a Fir Drive residence, Merle Leonard “Squirrel“ Southard, 30, was lodged in county jail on a warrant charging parole violation for dangerous drugs. Additionally, Southard was charged with possession of a controlled substance (PCS): methamphetamine.
- A fist-fight was reported in front of a Selma business at 8:35 p.m.
- Saturday, Jan. 16
- A Caves Hwy. resident said that his brother“s ex-girlfriend stole a battery from his vehicle after she attacked him with pliers.
- Theft of a revolver from a locked desk drawer at a Deer Creek Road residence was reported.
- A caller said that there was a disturbance in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. and that one person appeared to have been beaten by several others. Several people were contacted; no victim was located.
- Sunday, Jan. 17
- Two Kerby residents, ages 12 and 13, each were cited on a charge of PCS: less than an ounce of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school.
- Another juvenile person, in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy., was cited on a charge of PCS: less than an ounce of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school.
- An OSP game trooper came across a roll-over accident on Westside Road at 11:27 a.m. involving four teen-aged boys and a white Chevy Blazer. All refused medical treatment, and it was unclear who had been at the wheel.
- Four horses were said to be loose on Aries Lane around 3:02 p.m.
- Monday, Jan. 18
- On Rockydale Road at 8:18 a.m. Richard M. Schmitt, 48, was cited on a charge of lacking a valid operator“s permit.
- Theft of medication, including some 160 oxycodone pills from an open purse in a shopping cart, was reported in Cave Junction.
- A W. Stevenson Street resident complained that two young men were riding off-road motorcycles up and down the street.
- Contacted at the sheriff“s I.V. Substation in CJ, Adam Michael Abbey, 24, was lodged in county jail on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, menacing, strangulation, interfering with making a report and second-degree criminal mischief.
- In the 2000 block of Caves Hwy. a resident reported seeing a flash and hearing a loud explosion at 7:23 p.m., but nothing unusual was located when a deputy checked.
- Tuesday, Jan. 19
- From the 300 block of Dick George Road a complainant stated that someone broke into his residence, ransacked it, and allowed dogs to enter, resulting in feces on the floor. The incident was logged, and a report of first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief was pending.
- California driver Ron L. McCue, 28, was cited on a charge of violation of the basic rule (VBR) on Redwood Hwy. at Ken Rose Lane at 12:19 p.m.
- A Rockydale Road resident was concerned that a neighbor, who frequently shoots a “high-powered rifle,“ was doing so unsafely.
- Theft of a 15kva generator from a location on Holland Loop in November was reported. The item was said to be valued at $10,000.
- Located in Kerby, Anthony Michael Kirkman, 28, was lodged in county jail pending extradition on a state parole board warrant charging parole violation.
- Contacted on Lurline Lane, Heather Lee Johnson, 31, and Gabriel Lee Cooper, 31, were each cited on charges of PCS: methamphetamine; and possession, distribution and manufacture of a controlled substance/ more than an ounce of marijuana. Also, Johnson was lodged in county jail on a warrant charging FTA on an original contempt of court charge.
