  • Wednesday, Dec. 30
    • There was a call about a large white goat with an injured front leg walking in the middle of Smith Sawyer Road at 3:25 p.m.
    • At 4:36 p.m. a caller reported finding a man lying along Caves Hwy. with multiple head lacerations. The man, identified as Galen Eli Aller, 61, refused medical aid, but was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge: carrying a concealed weapon.
    • Theft of some $30,000 worth of merchandise was reported stolen during the past several months from warehouses on Old Stage Road. Suspect information was provided.
    • Killian David Hammersmith, 17, was cited on a charge of driving without insurance on S. Kerby Avenue at 9:58 p.m.
    • Nutcases pulled up some 16 street signs around the city of Cave Junction. Public Works was advised.
  • Thursday, Dec. 31
    • A candidate for village idiot shattered a window at the Cave Junction Post Office, causing approximately $500 damage.
    • It was reported that a man was yelling and beating on a door at St. Mathias Episcopal Church at 5:11 p.m. A woman inside said that the yeller had thrown her to ground. Subsequently, Cory Lee Livengood, 26, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.
    • In Selma a resident reported that the stepfather of a former tenant phoned to demand return of a security deposit. He told the caller that he was going to “Get even.“
    • Seemingly intoxicated, a woman asked a Takilma Road resident to phone for help because she“d been assaulted. The apparent victim was uncooperative about providing information about who might have assaulted her.
    • A caller from Indian Creek Road said that a woman had taken a purse that was not hers, and that they“d been in telephone contact with the woman, who said she“d leave the purse at a certain intersection. The purse was recovered and no further law enforcement involvement was necessary.
  • Friday, Jan. 1
    • In the 7000 block of Caves Hwy. a complainant cited gunfire just after midnight. The caller was informed that due to the large, New Year“s Eve call volume, law enforcement would not be able to respond or cite the person responsible.
    • Rockydale Road resident Gloria Jean Silvey, 55, was lodged in county jail on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.
    • No criminal reasons were found for unrelated alarms at Illinois Valley High School and I.V. Building Supply between 10:20 and 11 a.m.
    • An Indian Creek Road resident claimed that a former girlfriend was trespassing on his property.
    • From Page Mountain SnoPark came a complaint that a young child was left unattended in a vehicle for more than an hour while some adults were cavorting on the mountain.
    • Two Kerby residents were advised of their options following a disturbance reported at 8:51 p.m. Both persons had been drinking, and elected to remain separated for the remainder of the night.
    • Californian Jose Homero Torres Jr., 25, was cited on a charge of speeding on S. Redwood Hwy. at 9:59 p.m. His speed wasn“t listed.
  • Saturday, Jan. 2
    • An unsecured door at the Cave Junction Water Treatment Plant was indicated as be the reason for an alarm at 2:41 a.m.
    • Deputies responding to an alarm in Cave Junction noted a tree lying across half of Redwood Hwy. at mile 22.
    • A tree was discovered blocking part of Laurel Road at 3:49 a.m. Another tree was down across Lakeshore Drive at 4:55 a.m.
    • The village idiot auditions apparently continued, as all four “Stop“ signs at S. Kerby Avenue and Schumacher Street were pulled from the ground. CJ Public Works was advised.
    • Lowlifes caused damage to a lock and plywood sheet covering the counter at the I.V. Little League snack bar at Jubilee Park, it was discovered at 7:55 a.m.
    • More “Stop“ signs were reported to be uprooted throughout Cave Junction.
    • On Redwood Hwy. in Kerby at 1:32 p.m., Paul Cleveland Cooper, 42, was cited on a Del Norte County (California) warrant charging FTA on a dangerous drugs charge and a St. Helens Police warrant charging probation violation on a charge of fourth-degree assault.
    • In connection with the previous incident, Paul Cleveland Cooper, 42, was cited on charges of possession of a controlled substance (PCS), and delivery of a controlled substance (DCS): methamphetamine; driving with a suspended license (DWS), and driving uninsured. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail.
    • An inmate of Bar O Boys Ranch in Del Norte County, operated by the California Youth Authority, was recovered in Cave Junction and given into the custody of a corrections officer.
    • Robin Joy Spelber, 40, was cited on a charge of speeding (57 mph in a 45 mph zone) on N. Redwood Hwy. at 4:50 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 3
    • Gunshots and the sound of dogs barking were reported at 8:34 p.m.
    • Camping gear and a backpack frame were located on private property near Lake Selmac.
    • A rural Cave Junction resident reported that someone damaged her garage door. Suspect information was provided.
  • Monday, Jan. 4
    • Logs unavailable.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 5
    • A Josephine County deputy responded to the Oregon/California state line to transport a prisoner from Del Norte County for lodging in Josephine County Jail on a Grants Pass warrant.
    • Illinois Valley High School student Jasmine Prickett, 17, was cited on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and PCS/less than an ounce of marijuana.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 6
    • Cases of beer stacked too high and toppling were said to be responsible for an alarm at Wild River Brewing & Pizza Co. at 8:13 a.m.
    • An attempted burglary at a recently burned home on E. River Street was reported.
    • Frank W. Andrew Wilson, 63, was lodged in county jail on charges of six counts each of sex abuse and unlawful sexual penetration.
    • Trash, including addressed mail, was found in marshy territory off Cottage Park Drive.
    • Dustin Charles Hicks, 20, was cited on a charge of PCS/less than an ounce of marijuana following a traffic stop on W. River Street at 3:16 p.m.
    • Daniel Bruce Lensink, 51, was cited on a charge of speeding (64 mph in a 45 mph zone) on N. Redwood Hwy. at 9:04 p.m.
    • Jedediah D. Galloway, 28, was cited on a charge of speeding (59 mph in a 45 mph zone) on N. Redwood Hwy. at 10:29 p.m.
