BATTER UP - Illinois Valley Little League will hold sign-ups for the 2010 baseball season on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at the I.V. Golf Course on N. Redwood Hwy. Kids ages 4 to 18 are eligible. Bring a birth certificate and two items to prove residency. Practice will begin in March. Phone 415-1718 for more information.
Also, I.V. Little League will hold a chili feed and cook-off on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Josephine County Bldg. in Cave Junction from 4 to 7 p.m. Live music and a silent auction will round out the evening. BOARD BEHAVIOR - Josephine County Board of Commissioners will meet with city of Cave Junction officials and constituents on Monday, Jan. 25, beginning at 6 p.m. The quarterly Illinois Valley meeting will be held at the Josephine County Bldg. 103 S. Redwood Hwy.

COOKIN“ CLIMATE - OHMS - Community Health Education Center, at 128 S.W. “I“ St. in Grants Pass, offers the following free cooking classes: Monday, Jan. 11, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., get ready to Recycle: Day-Old Bread, featuring bread crumbs, croutons, French toast, and bread pudding. On Monday, Jan. 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., hearty snacks are an essential Superbowl game plan. Superbowl Snacks (new recipes) will feature ideas for putting a healthy spin on old favorites. Cooking with Kids — Baking Fun is offered on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Winter is a great time to turn on the oven and bake something delicious while spending time with the kids. Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult for this hands-on class. All cooking classes are hands-on, include recipe packets as well as samples of each dish.
