The Illinois Valley High School (IVHS) wrestling team placed fourth in a tournament held at North Valley High School in Merlin.
Coach Jay Miller said that around 20 teams participated in the tourney, which began on Friday, Dec. 18.
Sophomore Jesse Orndorff was crowned champion of the 112-pound weight division after boasting four first-round pins. He also was named champion of his division at the North Bend-Coast Classic earlier this month.
Senior John Anderson took second place in the 130-pound division. Also winning a second-place was freshman Gabe Miller in the 125-pound division.
Brandon Foracre, a senior, took third place in the 181-pound class. Third place also was won by junior Matt Coultas at 145 pounds.
Taking fourth place in the 103-pound division was senior Brandon Parker.
The IVHS grapplers are set to participate in the Reno-Sierra Nevada Classic tournament, will which kick off on Monday, Dec. 28.
Miller said that approximately 100 teams will participate. IVHS placed seventh in Reno two years ago, Miller said, and 15th last year.
Illness and injuries hampered the IVHS squad at the North Valley tournament, Miller said, adding that he expects them to return in time to compete next week.
