  • Thursday, Dec. 10
    • The victim of a vehicle theft on Sanger Lane phoned at 6:20 a.m. to report that he was following the fleeing suspect on Caves Hwy. The suspect stopped on Bear Creek Road, and was convinced to return to where the vehicle had been parked. Tasha Thornton, 21, was cited on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
    • Four large tarps valued at $1,200 were reported stolen from a semitruck trailer parked on private property on Lone Mountain Road.
    • Two short-haired pointer-type dogs with collars were said to be responsible for the deaths of five chickens and a goat on Laurel Road, a caller stated at 5:56 p.m. Josephine County Animal Control was notified.
    • A possible prowler was reported on Briar Lane. Several neighbors had reported such incidents in recent days.
  • Friday, Dec. 11
    • A slew of traffic accidents due to icy road conditions were reported throughout the region this morning.
    • On Schumacher Street a landlord stated that a tenant was growing marijuana plants. She was going to weed him out through eviction.
    • A complainant from Holland Loop stated that a man she’d hired to move wood became agitated. When asked to leave, he refused; then returned the next day. The man was warned against trespassing on her property.
  • Saturday, Dec. 12
    • Employing a “tactical approach” while following up on a reported prowler in the 7200 block of Holland Loop, a police vehicle reportedly struck a large rock at the edge of a driveway, causing damage to the driver’s-side door.
    • Theft including a computer, printer, radio, dental tools and a revolver was reported from an office in the 300 block of Caves Hwy.
  • Sunday, Dec. 13
    • Told that they would receive a refund for a trip they booked but could not take, a Cave Junction couple reported that the White City-based travel agency has sent them three checks which “bounced.”
    • California driver Andrew Hoyt Walker, 21, was cited on a charge of speeding (80 mph in a 55 mph zone) near milepost 26 on Redwood Hwy. at 8:19 p.m.
  • Monday, Dec. 14
    • It was stated that damage was caused to an office door in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. during an attempted break-in during the weekend.
    • Someone shot eight paintball rounds at a residence on Pine Cone Drive. The color was not listed.
    • Computer systems, fax machines and printers were reported stolen from a mental health services office at 315 Caves Hwy.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 15
    • Thomas Andrew Greco, 57, was cited on a charge of fourth-degree assault following a dispute at the Selma Post Office with another person regarding money.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 16
    • Southbound on Redwood Hwy. near Krauss Lane, Joshua Jax Harvey, 35, was cited on a charge of speeding (87 mph in a 55 mph zone). And it was noted that a large bag of marijuana had been thrown from Harvey’s vehicle prior to the traffic stop. The weed was seized.
    • Thomas Nicolas Free, 39, was cited on a charge of speeding (55 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Rockydale Road at 7:40 p.m.
    • Geronimo Zion Coyote Bacon, 25, was cited on a charge of speeding (59 mph in a 45 mph zone) in Downtown Cave Junction at 8:12 p.m.
    • While turning to pursue a speeding vehicle on Redwood Hwy. near Schuler Lane, a deputy lost control of his patrol car and it went into a ditch. The cruiser’s bumper was creased by a tow cable, it was noted.
  • Thursday, Dec. 17
    • It was discovered at 12:36 a.m. that goofy folks had uprooted a “Stop” sign on N. Kerby Avenue at River Street.
