Holiday cheer abounds at Kerby Art & Wine Evening
From our weekly issue dated December 02, 2009
Holiday music, merriment, and an amazing array of fine arts and crafts just right for gift-giving will fill the Southern Oregon Guild’s Gallery & Artists’ Center during the Guild’s Holiday Jewelry & Gift Show.
It’s set for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a prelude to the final 2009 Evening of Art & Wine in Kerby.
Imagine the inspiration of shopping among the unique work of 50 different fine artists and craftspeople for all hand-made items ranging from $2 to thousands, with lots in the easily affordable range. That’s what shoppers will find at the Guild’s Holiday Jewelry & Gift Show.
Whether looking for wearable art, unique functional housewares, an unusual piece of jewelry, or just something special to make a loved one smile, shoppers will find lots of choices. They will be able to select gifts to create different moods – whimsical, spiritual, thoughtful – or to add color and gaiety to someone’s life.
Whether seeking to fill an empty spot on a wall with something beautiful; trying to fit a gift into a loved one’s wardrobe; or hoping to find something special to make his or her life easier or more fun, the show will offer a feast of ideas.
Guild members will wrap gifts at no charge. Free-will donations will go to benefit Southern Oregon Guild.
And if shopping isn’t enough, various artists will demonstrate their art from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday – Deborah Dawson, watercolor; Sandra Fluck, chain mail and wire-wrap jewelry-making techniques; and Cassandra Newton-Miller, scratch-art. If there is sufficient interest, classes will be planned for early 2010.

Cookies and spiced cider will be served while they last.
The Guild’s Jewelry & Gift Show will be held at the Guild Gallery in the Business Entrepreneurial Center at RCC’s Kerby Belt Bldg. on Hwy. 199 in Kerby.
This veritable two-day bazaar of gift ideas will culminate in 2009’s final Evening of Art & Wine in Kerby, which will overlap the Jewelry and Gift Show from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. During this early evening event, Kerby merchants will add wine-tasting, music and tasty treats to their special holiday offerings, capping the 2009 Kerby Evening season with holiday cheer.
Illinois Valley’s historic town of Kerby will be alive with holiday fun. For more information, phone Reni Schaeffer, 596-2680; or Joyce Abrams, (541) 659-3858.
