PANCAKE PARTY - Community Christian Academy will hold a pancake breakfast fund-raiser on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Community Bible Church, 113 S. Caves Ave. in CJ. The menu: pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, coffee, tea and juice.

BASEBALL BENEFIT - Illinois Valley Little League will hold a “Mystery Gift Bag” auction from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Josephine County Bldg. in Cave Junction. A live auction of 10 gift bags will run from 3 to 4 p.m. The auction items feature donations from the business community and proceeds will help IVLL fund the coming season. SAR CYCLING - Cyclocross races will be held at Paradise Ranch in Merlin on Saturday, Nov. 21 to benefit the Josephine County Sheriff's Office Search And Rescue program. The steeplechase-like races challenge the endurance, speed and tactics of riders. Races will begin at 10 a.m. There is no charge for admission; funds are raised through rider entry fees and raffles. The events are sponsored by Jana Jensen, of Cycle Analysis in Jacksonville, who has been a supporter of SAR since the death of her son, Nick, in an accidental drowning in Illinois River.

HOLIDAY HELPERS - Since 1989 the Cave Junction Cares Program has served needy families in Illinois Valley at Thanksgiving and Christmas. CJ Cares now feeds some 450 people on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning in the pavilion at Jubilee Park; meals also are provided for homebound individuals. The program is made possible entirely through donations and the work of volunteers. NOTEPAD - Selma Community Center will hold a semi-annual community meeting on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the center to vote on bylaw changes. The evening also will feature a dessert social and auction. Attendees should bring a dessert to share and one to auction. Phone “Jim” at 597-2455 ... Dell’Arte Company will present its 29th annual holiday show, A Commedia Christmas Carol, an adaptation of Dickens' classic holiday tale, in a rambunctious commedia dell'arte style with masks, magic and music.
