  • Friday, Nov. 6
    • Two reports came in around 1:22 p.m. of a northbound gray or black sedan with a reckless, speeding driver passing unsafely on Redwood Hwy. in Selma.
    • A report of second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree burglary was to be filed following discovery on Pinewood Way that a residence was forcibly entered.
    • While waiting at a bus stop on W. Watkins Street with her children, a caller said, the driver of a small, light-blue pickup truck spun out, nearly striking her and the kids.
    • A reported stolen van was recovered on Brown Road.
    • On S. Redwood Hwy. at Oregon Caves Chevron, Robbjean Ann Soderlund, 38, was cited on charges of violation of the basic rule (VBR)/speeding (61 mph in a 45 mph zone), driving while suspended (DWS), and failure to carry proof of insurance.
    • Adam Harry Sladon, 27, was cited on a charge of VBR on Redwood Hwy. at Krauss Lane at 8:36 p.m.
    • An intoxicated woman who vomited at a Downtown Cave Junction service station and couldn’t find her car was given a ride home.
  • Saturday, Nov. 7
    • Jason Evan Burke, 38, was cited on a charge of speeding, (70 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Laurel Road at 3:05 p.m.
    • Dennis Allen Kelly, 47, was cited to appear in Cave Junction Municipal Court on a charge of speeding (41 mph in a 30 mph zone) on S. Redwood Hwy. at 3:57 p.m.
    • In the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy., Galen Eli Aller, 61, was cited on a charge of failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of carrying a concealed weapon. And Gregory Wayne Sampley, 57, was cited under a warrant charging FTA on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
    • John Alden Terry, 58, was cited on a charge of speeding (60 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Rockydale Road at 6:31 p.m.
    • In Downtown Cave Junction at 8:20 p.m., Terry Alan Hendrickson, 45, was cited to appear in CJ Muni Court on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII), refusing a breathalyzer test, failure to use lights when required, illegal display of registration, no operator’s license, and driving uninsured.
  • Sunday, Nov. 8
    • A nondescript cow, while not deemed a hazard, was loose on Southshore Drive near Lake Selmac.
    • On Schumacher Street a woman said that she wanted people, whom she’d allowed to stay, removed from her property. She was informed that it was a civil matter.
    • Some sort of disturbance was reported at 8 p.m. in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. where a young man was said to be destroying some sort of property (not his own).
    • For whatever reasons, a lot of noise and screaming were heard on E. River Street near N. Junction Avenue at 10:36 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 10
    • A bear (size nor color provided) was reported in the vicinity of Lorna Byrne Middle School at 6:24 p.m. Trouble might be bruin.
  • Monday, Nov. 9
    • There was a call that a man exited a gray sedan with plastic where the windows should be, and began walking around in the 4700 block of Caves Hwy. looking through binoculars. When startled by a neighbor, the “suspicious person” darted into bushes to hide, and later was picked up near Tycer Crossing by someone in the same car that had dropped him off originally.
    • Lynneah Artelle Dennis, 55, was cited on a charge of speeding (62 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at River Street at 4:57 p.m.
    • Richard Eugene Kelly, 38, was cited on a charge of speeding (74 mph in a 55 mph zone) in the 32000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 5 p.m.
    • At Illinois River Forks State Park, Shirley Sarfaty, 52, was cited on a charge of possession of a controlled substance/marijuana.
    • A caller stated that a man was “hanging out” in front of the Josephine County Bldg. in Downtown Cave Junction with a bag of marijuana. When contacted, the man in question had no weed, but some was located in a nearby trashcan, and destroyed. Also, James Irvin Mutina, 57, was cited on a charge of having alcohol on public premises.
    • A caller stated that a 20-year-old man was “using Hays Cut Off Road as a race track,” and that the behavior had increased since the complainant confronted him.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 11
    • Just before lunchtime it was reported that a man had exposed himself to another person following a disturbance at St. Matthias Episcopal Church.
    • It was stated that a woman who came to believe that harm was about to come to her stole a pickup truck and fled from a Selma residence around 5 p.m. No charges were filed after the situation was resolved roadside on Redwood Hwy., and the vehicle was returned.
    • Mark D. Patterson, 22, was cited on a DWS charge on Redwood Hwy. at Krauss Lane at 7:10 p.m.
    • Gunshots and yelling were reported coming from an Aries Lane residence after a neighbor confronted another regarding dogs fighting. Subsequently, Dean Michael Smith, 46, was cited on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm and lodged in Josephine County Jail.
  • Thursday, Nov. 12
    • A rural Cave Junction man claimed that charges were made against his checking account by Charter Communications, and that he’d never had service.
    • Donald Ray Johnson, 59, was cited on a charge of speeding (61 mph in a 45 mph zone) at milepost 31 on Redwood Hwy. at 4:09 p.m.
    • Three Illinois Valley High School students were found in possession of marijuana, the principal reported. Brandon Froderman, 17, and Alycia Mather, 15, each were cited on a charge of PCS/marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. A deputy was to meet with the third student later.
    • A caller had trailed persons believed to be stealing mushrooms from a Redwood Hwy. address to a location on Rockydale Road.
    • Raymond Frank Mills, 43, was cited on a charge of speeding (77 mph in a 55 mph zone) on Waldo Road at 7:46 p.m.
    • Charles David Carbis, 52, was cited to appear in Cave Junction Muni Court on a charge of speeding (63 mph in a 45 mph zone) somewhere on S. Redwood Hwy. at 8:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 13
    • Several buildings on N. Old Stage Road were broken into overnight, an employee reported.
