MIX IT UP - Crocker Financial Services will host an Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce mixer on Friday, Nov. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 204 W. Lister St. across from the Cave Junction Post Office. Chamber members, the business community and the public are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served. Phone the chamber office at 592-3326 for more information.

SECOND FRIDAY CIRCULATION - Art Walk will return to the Illinois Valley Branch Library on Friday Nov. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. Featured artists will be Kate Prockl and Hester Mallonee. There also will be music by the I.V. String Band, a book-reading by author Claudia Smith Anderson, and refreshments. The circulation desk will be open and books and materials can be checked out.

HOLIDAY HELPERS - Since 1989 the Cave Junction Cares Program has served needy families in Illinois Valley at Thanksgiving and Christmas. CJ Cares now feeds some 450 people on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning in the pavilion at Jubilee Park; meals also are provided for homebound individuals. The program is made possible entirely through donations and the work of volunteers. MATMEN MEET - The I.V. Youth Wrestling Tourney will be held in Ken Mann Memorial Gym at Illinois Valley High School on Saturday, Nov. 14. Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m.

NOTEPAD - U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden’s annual Josephine County town hall meeting on Friday, Nov. 13 has been moved to the Heater-Newman Memorial Gym at Grants Pass High School, 830 N.E. 9th St. Also, the event time has been changed to 10 a.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. The meeting was originally scheduled at the Anne G. Basker Auditorium ... Work will begin on the new “drought-tolerant, mostly native plant garden” at the Cave Junction Branch of the Josephine County Library on Saturday, Nov. 14.
