  • Wednesday, Oct. 28
    • Someone stated that a car had crashed into a fence in the 800 block of Caves Hwy. Then the vehicle, with a wrecked front end and one tireless front rim, was driven away eastbound, and last seen on Aries Lane.
    • Unspecified damage to a vehicle in the 200 block of Watkins Street was logged.
    • A dark-green Cadillac, which did not run, was reported stolen (somehow) from a yard in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
    • Hope N. Sunyich, 28, was cited on a charge of VBR (violation of the basic rule)/speeding (60 mph in a 45 mph zone) on N. Redwood Hwy. at 5:17 p.m.
    • Michael French, 64, was cited on a charge of VBR/speeding (59 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Hanby Lane at 5:37 p.m.
    • On E. River Street, Gina D. Oneto, 48, was cited on a charge of VBR/speeding (37 mph in a 25 mph zone) at 6:17 p.m.
    • Washington state driver Damon Vickers, 45, was cited on a charge of speeding (76 mph in a 45 mph zone) on S. Redwood Hwy. at 7:54 p.m.
    • As the flashing lights continued, James Leonard Guthrie Jr., 18, was cited on a charge of speeding (62 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Rockydale Road at 8:53 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 29
    • Joseph George Vigorito, 56, was cited somewhere on charges of driving uninsured and failure to renew registration.
    • A man reported being threatened, apparently with words, in Downtown Cave Junction by a woman who believed that he had her car.
    • From Borica Drive came a complaint about noise from an adjacent property.
    • Donna Lee Pernicka, 46, was cited on a charge of speeding (42 mph in a 25 mph zone) on E. River Street at 2:47 p.m.
    • In the 17000 block of Redwood Hwy., James Harve Chastain, 42, was cited on a charge of speeding (80 mph in a 55 mph zone) at 4:51 p.m.
    • Amber L. Enos, 18, of Shadywood Drive, was lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass on a charge of probation violation.
    • A deputy in a patrol car struck a deer on Redwood Hwy. near Kerby, damaging the grill. The deer was dispatched (euphemism for being killed).
  • Friday, Oct. 30
    • Teen-age persons on Fir Drive playing “games” on the telephone were warned against misuse of 911.
    • Jade C. Yandell, 19, was incarcerated in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass due to a charge of probation violation.
    • On Daisy Hill Road a man reported that he returned home to find a woman (whom he did not know) in his house. Also, some $100 cash was missing. What followed next is unclear.
    • Robert Myers, 39, was cited on charges of trespassing and second-degree criminal mischief following a complaint from a Downtown Cave Junction business that he was loitering and bothering customers.
    • Ricky Jack Allen, 34, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS) in the 25000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 9:33 p.m.
    • An intoxicated student was said to be disorderly at the Illinois Valley High School athletic field at approximately 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31
    • A caller reported possible drug dealing at a Downtown Cave Junction location.
    • Lisa Marie Lawrence, 41, was cited on N. Redwood Hwy. at 7:22 p.m. on a charge of possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school.
    • Jorge A. Garcia De Alba Brambila, 23, was cited on a charge of speeding (70 mph in a 45 mph zone) in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 7:25 p.m.
    • Leeandra Dale Brocker, 45, was cited on charges of DWS and driving without insurance on Rockydale Road at 7:36 p.m.
    • Jesse Ben Crandall, 30, was cited on a charge of speeding (58 mph in a 45 mph zone) in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy.
    • Jamie Ramelli, 31, was cited on a charge of failure to carry current proof of insurance and warned for failure to drive within a lane on Redwood Hwy. in the 23000 block at 8:58 p.m.
    • A dispute over ownership of a pickup truck on Crooks Creek Road was determined to be a civil issue.
    • Following a report of a disturbance on Caves Hwy., a man with a stick was told that the next time someone throws beer cans over his fence he should phone 911 rather than take up a weapon.
    • Apparently there were no calls regarding errant trick-or-treaters or Halloween vandalism. And that’s good.
  • Sunday, Nov. 1
    • On Caves Hwy. at 12:09 a.m. a boy, 17, was cited on a charge of curfew violation; and his mother, Vivian McGivern, was cited on a charge of violation of responsible guardianship.
    • A girl, 16, was warned regarding curfew violation at Jubilee Park.
    • An assault was reported at 1:14 a.m. at a Downtown CJ establishment.
    • A caller stated that a man was brandishing a firearm and selling marijuana to young people behind a Downtown CJ restaurant. When contacted by a deputy, a search turned up neither weapon nor weed on the man’s person.
    • Contacted on Takilma Road, Nisha Raelise Steel, 39, subsequently was lodged in county jail on a Mountain Valley, Calif. warrant charging felony possession of hashish for sale and possession of marijuana.
    • A taxi driver reported that a man on Brown Road refused to pay a $50 cab fare. Subsequently, Billy Joe Endsley, 46, was cited on a charge of second-degree theft.
    • Michael Edward Fine, 42, was cited in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 11:52 p.m. on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII).
  • Monday, Nov. 2
    • Maybe a couple of miles from the green bridge on Eight Dollar Mountain Road, a man reported that he saw another man raise a firearm and shoot at him. It was later determined that the shooter was not aiming at the man, but had bagged a buck.
    • Theft of a propane heater and flashlight from an RV on Rockydale Road was reported. The thief caused some $350 damage to the RV door, the caller stated.
    • Someone complained that someone else had erected a gate across the road to Queen of Bronze Mine off Takilma Road.
    • Gunshots and yelled profanities were heard in the 8000 block of Caves Hwy. at 4:59 p.m. Someone contacted in the area said that this was a regular occurrence, and that she’d heard nothing out of the ordinary.
    • Theft of items from the former Family Tree Nursery building that recently burned on S. Junction Avenue was the subject of a complaint.
    • Jewelry was reported missing from a Terrace Drive residence.
    • Some persons attempting to steal gasoline from trucks parked on N. Redwood Hwy. in CJ were interrupted at 10:09 p.m., a caller stated. The nature of the interruption would make a good story.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 3
    • At 2 a.m. a 16-year-old boy was listed as a run-away person from a Rockydale Road residence.
    • Located at school at 7 a.m., a boy, 16, was removed from the run-away list.
    • On Redwood Hwy. near Ken Rose Lane at 7:37 p.m., Steven E. Smith, 45, was cited to appear on a warrant charging FTA on original charges of DUII and DWS.
