Four meets in two weeks for Cougar X-country

Cougar thinclads ran in the Grants Pass “Minivite” Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Sports Park.
The race was on 45 percent pavement and 55 percent grass and trails. Cougar Jasmine Pricket fared well on the course, as she was the highest Cougar finisher at 14th of 53 runners, with a time of 24:34.39.
Erin Byrne ran 25:11.29, Casey Robertson 25:11.58, Hailee Parker 26:10.08 (personal best), Heidi Unger 27:43.71 and Mali Witchelo 30:14.36.
Tyler Delaney placed 41st out of 83 runners with a time of 21:11.08 — 8.08 seconds off his personal best.
At the State of Jefferson Meet at Lithia Park in Ashland on Saturday, Oct. 17, Robertson was back to form and was impressive with her 15th-place finish out of 71 of the state’s best runners.
Her time for the 3.2-mile event was 21:13.25, which is the fourth-best time by any runner in the Skyline Conference and only 47 seconds from the top time. Byrne was a full minute faster than last year in this race at 25:12.76. Witchelo finished 28:29.23
Delaney ran 21:51.43 on the boys side.
The Elmira County Fair Classic was held at the fairgrounds in Veneta in Lane County on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Robertson finished 16th out of 137 runners with a time of 20:01, which was slightly less than under 2 minutes off the top time.

Delaney ran his personal best at 19:49, four minutes from the top time. He seems to be right on stride to achieve his preseason goals.
The last meet was the Skyline Conference Championships at Bear Creek Park in Medford on Saturday, Oct. 31. Casey Robertson and Jasmine Pricket were the only Cougars to qualify for state.
Jasmine Pricket ran 23:33.52, Erin Byrne 24:15.07, Hailee Parker 24:46.85, Heidi Unger 26:54.01 and Mali ran 27:54.80.
Delaney finished with a time of 22:04.42.
The 4-A state high school championships will be held at Lane Community College on Saturday, Nov. 7.
