Illinois Valley girls volleyball team played North Valley on Saturday, Oct. 24 in Ken Mann Memorial Gym in Cave Junction.
It was “Senior Night.” Cougars recognized were Callie Harland, Rebeckah Kaberline and Heidi Unger.
Kaberline started her last home game as a senior with a bang, and led her team to a 4-0 early lead with her patented jump serves. The Cougars were inspired and never looked back, taking the first set 25-15, with Kaberline’s kill shot providing the final Cougar point to win the set.
I.V. played unbelievable and had many rallies, but the Knights were at the top of their game and won the next three sets 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 to win 3 of 4.
Team leaders for the Cougars were Alex Miller (digs), Kaberline (kills), Brieanne Smith (blocks), Harland and Unger (assists) and Smith and Kaberline had 3 aces each.
“This was a total team effort; I was really happy with their performance” said assistant coach Jeannie Sherman. “They have improved so much this year, and tonight it showed.”
