Thursday, Sept. 24
- After a man phoned Cave Junction City Hall to report a poacher, the information was passed to law enforcement agencies. Then the man kept phoning to tell the person who took the call that he wished she were dead.
- Second-degree theft was reported at Phillips Auto Wrecking involving a man who said he’d be back for an item with cash. Later, the item was missing, but no cash was in sight.
- Michael D. Spring, 46, was cited on a charge of driving 36 mph in a 25 mph zone at E. River Street and Old Stage Road. At the same spot, Anthony Realmuto, 17, and Linda L. Butler each were cited for driving 37 mph.
- In Downtown Cave Junction, James Gibson, 65, was cited on a charge of driving 37 mph in a 25 mph zone.
- Near milepost 25 of Hwy. 199, Pamela S. Miller, 52, was cited on a charge of driving 68 mph in a 55 mph zone.
- Dawn M. Bernal, 44, was cited near the Cave Junction Post Office on a charge of driving 46 in a 30 mph zone.
- A citation for driving 82 mph in a 55 zone was issued to Patrick Mitton, 51, near milepost 23 of Hwy. 199.
- In O’Brien a man said that the man he bought a house from was renting it to some other people. The owner said that the man was behind on his payments.
- Anna N. Austin, 40, was cited on a charge of driving 58 mph in a 45 mph zone near milepost 31 of Hwy. 199.
- Near Hanby Lane at Hwy. 199, Mariah Carter, 25, was cited on a charge of driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
- Near milepost 30 of Hwy. 199, Christine Slette, 39, was cited on a charge of driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. In the same vicinity, Joel Kepner, 41, was listed at 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
- Listed as driving 69 mph in a 55 mph zone, Robert Black was cited near milepost 39 of Hwy. 199.
- The vehicle that was driven by Gregory T. Short, 53, was impounded after he was cited on charges of driving without a license or insurance.
- After a Selma man reported that a man pulled out a gun when he approached him, he later said that he was unsure if it really was a gun.
- Eddie Ledlow, 33, was cited on a charge of driving 74 mph in a 55 mph zone near milepost 35 of Hwy. 199.
- At the south end of CJ, Stephanie Steiling, 23, was cited on a charge of driving 72 mph in a 55 mph zone.
- At Hwy. 199 and Lakeshore Drive, Gary R. Palmer, 54, was cited on a charge of driving 57 mph in a 45 mph zone.
- William Dennis Reviea, 42, was cited on a DUII charge in Cave Junction at 11:29 p.m. His vehicle was impounded.

Friday, Sept. 25
- At Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction, a care-taker was suspicious about a car and two people. But it was found that the women had come to pay their respects and were visiting.
- Two suspicious foil-wrapped packages were reported at Laurel Cemetery. The caller thought that they might contain drug paraphernalia, but they turned out to be wrapped-up steak.
- After a man took tobacco without paying from a CJ market, it was stated by a neighbor that when he threatened to report the crime, he was threatened with having his car blown up, his house demolished or being beaten.
- When cited for driving 67 mph in a 55 mph zone near the Oregon/California border, David H. Grussell, 31, told the deputy that he was keeping up with traffic, although there were no cars behind him, and he was closing in on the car ahead.
- Lance A. Tausaga, 18, was cited in the 25000 block of Hwy. 199 on a charge of driving 58 mph in a 45 mph zone.
- Samantha J. Grabarz, 21, was cited in the 37000 block of Hwy. 199 on a charge of driving 65 mph in a 50 mph zone.
- At Hwy. 199 and Hanby Lane, Stacey Rose Robbins, 29, was cited on a charge of driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. And Alexis Lopez, 20, was cited for driving 62 mph there.
- “Disturbance in progress” involving an estimated 20 young people at 10:45 p.m. on N. Junction Avenue caused deputies to begin responding to “a major fight with yelling and screaming.” Then it was over, although one person was knocked down. Several people involved were contacted.
- Brett A. Latva, 18, was cited at 11:19 p.m. near the I.V. Visitor Center on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol by consumption. His companions were 19 and 20 years of age.
- A woman, 19, was listed as the potential suspect in an assault of a girl, 17, at 11:26 p.m. on N. Junction Avenue. The victim wants to pursue charges.
- Three men were contacted at 11:26 p.m. at Hwy. 46 and Caves Avenue; one was 18 years old, and two were 20 years old.
- Someone tried to flee on a bicycle at 11:30 p.m. at W. Lister Street and S. Hussey Avenue.
- Three young people were contacted at Hwy. 46 and Junction Avenue at 11:35 p.m. in connection with a series of earlier incidents.
- A welfare check of a woman who had hospital equipment that she shouldn’t have was conducted on Schumacher Street.
- Catherine Maria Quinn, 56, was cited on an unspecified charge on Hwy. 199 near Patton Bar Road.
- At the same location as the one previous, Blair Lofttus, 54, and another woman, name not listed, each were cited on a charge of driving 57 mph in a 45 mph zone. The woman in front said that her cruise control was working improperly; her friend said that she was just keeping pace.
- Yvette T. Towe, 34, was cited in CJ on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS), and her vehicle was impounded.

Saturday, Sept. 26
- Several young people were contacted in Downtown Cave Junction at 12:22 a.m.
- Due to an influx of rubber duckies, a marine deputy was on the Rogue River to assist with the annual Rotary Club fund-raising races.
- Two young boys in Selma were said to have sharpened sticks, and talked about using baseball bats for other than playing a game. Eventually the situation was resolved, although the parents, who are separated, seemed to have differing ideas.
- People were reported to be fighting on Gamay Court in a case of domestic violence. No crime was noted; the situation was described as “verbal in nature.”
- It was “physical at one point” in a situation in Selma involving criminal mischief at Headers Tavern. No charges were filed.
- Following a report that a man with a knife was drunk and threatening a woman, Jeremy Beck, 29, was charged with two felony counts of fourth-degree assault. He was taken to Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass.

- No citations listed today.

Monday, Sept. 28
- American Medical Response took Scott Shields, 49, to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass after a 5:09 a.m. call on Thompson Creek Road. He said that he fell in a ditch.
- Upon finding a needle and syringe on Hay’s Hill while chip-sealing on Hwy. 199, a Josephine County crew said they’d paint a circle around the items and leave them for law enforcement.
- Ronald C. Gibson, 63, was cited in Selma on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS).
- The Tarter Gulch/Althouse Road area was patrolled at 8:21 a.m.
- There was concern about a young girl who was depressed, but she was at school and OK.
- On Deer Creek Road a man said that someone threw a rock at his car while he drove by, and that it is a continuing problem.
- Theft of a $550 camera and a possible assault were reported on Gamay Court. It turned out that assault was unfounded, but the complainant got his camera back and was quite happy with the help from a deputy.
- Came a call from E. River Street by someone saying that a woman with a suspended license continues to drive. The woman was advised she’d be cited if a deputy saw her driving.
- Due to problems with parents, a girl was concerned at what they might do to make her leave Cave Junction. The family was trying to work out the problems.
- Benjaman R. Campbell, 27, was cited on a DWS charge near milepost 25 of Hwy. 199, and his vehicle was impounded.
- Ralph F. Chiampi, 55, was identified as the driver of a log truck that struck a utility pole on Pinewood Way, causing live wires to be on the roadway at 7:54 p.m.
- Domestic violence was noted on Burch Drive, but the man left prior to deputy arrival, and it was determined that the situation was “verbal only.”
- Illinois River Forks State Park was patrolled at 9:08 p.m.
- David S. Conas, 43. was cited on a DWS charge in Kerby, and his vehicle was impounded.
- Several motorists were warned about speeding at various times and locations in the valley.
- Schools, parks and other locations were checked by deputies around the valley at various times.
- After a DWS charge at 11 p.m. in Kerby, Danny Jay Carter, 46, was taken to jail under a warrant charging contempt of court. He was cited under a warrant charging failure to appear on a charge of second-degree theft.

Tuesday, Sept. 29
- For some reason an alarm sounded at Oregon Caves Chevron at 11 past midnight, but all seemed OK.
- Theft of veterinary drugs that “can be used recreationally” was noted by Crossroads Animal Hospital.
- To obtain a report for her bank, a woman on Holland Loop stated that someone has used her debit card without permission.
- Due to nonpayment by its almost owner, a 2001 car was driven away by a repo man in Selma.
- Jubilee Park was patrolled at 7 p.m.; Forks State Park at 8:06.
- Cave Junction resident Daniel Harwood (date of birth not listed) was taken by American Medical Response to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass after he was reportedly struck by a pickup truck in Kerby. The vehicle was not located.
