William C. Sappington
William C. Sappington, 75, of Selma, died on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at his home.
A graveside service was held at Deer Creek Cemetery in Selma. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sappington was born on Aug. 26, 1934 in Grants Pass. He graduated from Grants Pass High School. For more than 20 years he drove log trucks and was an owner/operator for a time.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller and received a USAF commendation for heroic efforts as a traffic controller.
In 1988 he moved to Selma. His hobbies included yard maintenance and watching football.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Sappington, of Byron, Minn., and Donald Sappington, of Barstow, Calif.; a sister, Margurite Oliver, of Portland; and six grandchildren.
Martha H. Meyer
Martha H. Meyer, 101, of Cave Junction, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at home.
Arrangements are pending with Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.
