  • Saturday, Sept. 5
    • Some genius broke a window at Evergreen Elementary School at 12:30 a.m.
    • Although a small dog was thrown, it did not appear to be injured in connection with people having a disturbance on Madrona Drive at 12:36 a.m.
    • No injuries were reported in connection with a couple having a problem on N. Junction Avenue at 1:12 a.m. Items that were broken belong to both parties, and there was no physical contact, it was reported.
    • It appeared that two men, one of them possibly intoxicated, smacked their cars together on the parking lot at CJ 76.
    • An alarm sounded at Evergreen Elementary School near 1 p.m., but there was no problem except maybe with the alarm.
    • Richard A. Smith, 59, was cited in Cave Junction on a charge of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
    • Anna Humphrey, 28, was cited at Illinois River Forks State Park on charges of DWS and driving uninsured.
    • A “bunch of kids ... approximately (in their) 20s” were said to be beating “one kid behind the stage” at Jubilee Park at 7:44 p.m. No victim was located.
  • Sunday, Sept. 6
    • No arrests were made following a 1:30 a.m. disturbance on Mesa Verde Drive. The woman involved called it “a stupid incident.”
    • The man involved in the Mesa Verde incident phoned 911 at 2:30 a.m. and yelled at the call-taker, who hung up.
    • Keven W. Jones, 49, was arrested in Cave Junction on a charge of DUII. His BAC was listed at .20 percent.
    • There was a complaint of burglary in the 24000 block of Hwy. 199 at 7:22 p.m. Subsequently, charges were pending regarding first-degree burglary, menacing and harassment.
    • “Disorderly conduct” was reported at 8:44 p.m. because of eight people said to be drinking beer on a porch at E. Watkins Street and Caves Avenue.
    • In a reported road rage incident in the O’Brien area, a man hit another’s car with his fist, then drove past the “bug station” at the Oregon/California border at 100 mph.
    • A Takilma man, 23, went to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass and told three different stories as to how he was shot in the head with a .BB-pellet. Then he left when told a deputy was coming to see him.
  • Monday, Sept. 7
    • Numerous people, maybe 20 or 30 of them, were said involved in a disturbance at 12:45 a.m. at a Cave Junction watering hole. Plus, a large group was “barricaded” inside the place. Deputies responded and contacted several people.
    • In connection with the preceding incident, Kyle Tims LaTourette, 16, was cited on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and tobacco; and Joseph Melvin Winslow, 41, was cited on a charge of FTA on a charge of carrying a prohibited weapon.
    • Also in connection with the preceding, William Murphy, 21, was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and criminal mischief, the latter in connection with head-butting a patrol car; and Patrick Arthur Murphy II, 24, was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault.
    • A “Stop” sign at S. Kerby Avenue and Schumacher Street was knocked over.
    • Road rage by others near Lake Selmac caused a woman to be afraid and not want to drive home.
    • A couple of people near the CJ 76 station were involved in disorderly conduct.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 8
    • Some lovely person heaved a boulder through a front window at the Century 21 Harris & Taylor office.
    • People on Lakeshore Drive said that their neighbor believes they shot their dog, but that they did not.
    • Theft of an engine valued at $2,500 was reported on Lakeshore Drive.
    • People on Junction Avenue were said to be selling food and alcohol from their home without permits. But it only happened during the Labor Day Festival, so the problem went away. Sort of.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 9
    • “Employee error” caused an alarm at McGrew’s at 9:16 a.m.
    • Theft of a wallet from an unlocked vehicle on Illinois River Road was noted.
    • Michael Lee Fomby, 73, was cited on a charge of speeding (68 mph in a 55 mph zone) on Hwy. 199 at milepost 30 at 7:10 p.m.
    • On Hwy. 199, Joan O. Wright, 75, was cited on a charge of VBR (violation of the basic rule/driving too fast for conditions). It was noted that Wright was traveling 59 mph in a 45 mph zone.
    • Christian Emile Henderson, 37, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on a Lane County warrant charging fraud. He also was cited on a DWS charge following a traffic stop on Hwy. 199 near Laurel Road.
    • On Hwy. 199 in the 29000 block, Hung Xuan Tran, 32, was cited on a charge of speeding (60 mph in a 45 mph zone).
  • Thursday, Sept. 10
    • Abram M. Faas, 33, was cited on a charge of driving 55 mph in 40 mph zone near milepost 28 of Hwy. 199, and warned about an obscured license plate.
    • Richard Lee Thomas, 27, and James Buck, 16, each were cited on E. River Street on a charge of speeding (41 and 39 mph) in a 25 mph zone.
    • Neil White, 58, was issued three citations behind Bi-Rite Auto Parts in connection with continued charges of trespassing. Two people with him were warned about trespassing.
    • Roy E. McLaughlin, 51, was cited on N. Old Stage Road on charges of driving 36 mph in a 25 mph zone, DWS, and driving uninsured. His vehicle was impounded.
    • Ronald M. Low, 58, was cited at 199 and River Street on a charge of driving 57 mph in a 45 mph zone.
    • Out Hwy. 46 in the 7900 block, a motorcyclist was worried about a buddy who has trouble following directions and might be lost.
    • Near Forks State Park at 9:11 p.m., Steven D. Smith, 50, was cited on a charge of driving on Rockydale Road at 11 mph faster than the posted 55 mph limit.
    • April Baremore, 41, was cited at Hwy. 199 and Laurel Road on a charge of driving 55 in a 45 mph zone.
    • Following a short chase near 10:30 p.m., Walter Jack Jr., 40, was arrested at Hwy. 46 and Laurel Road on charges of resisting arrest, reckless driving, and failure to carry and present a license. He was cited on charges of failure to yield, driving uninsured and without a license, and driving 55 mph in a 45 zone. His vehicle was impounded.
  • Friday, Sept. 11
    • Either nothing happened today or we didn’t get the logs yet for this date.
  • Saturday, Sept. 12
    • Dome School had an alarm at 9:41 p.m., but it was because of a shed that had to be opened to reset something.
    • Evergreen Elementary School had an audible alarm at 9:57 a.m., but all was OK.
    • People on June Drive related that their reported stolen vehicle was found “totaled” by the river.
    • In Downtown Cave Junction, Melissa Lowenstien, 42, was arrested under a warrant charging FTA on a charge of DUII, with an added charge; resisting arrest.
    • “Darked out” vehicles race every Friday and Saturday nights on Pine Cone Drive, a complainant said.
    • With a reported BAC of .20 percent, Richard D. Hewitt, 57, was arrested on a charge of DUII near milepost 26 of Hwy. 199. His vehicle was impounded. He was cited on a charge of not having a license; warned for speeding.
    • A vehicle grilled deer was removed from Hwy. 199 near O’Brien.
    • Following a complaint from Tana Pelletier that she had been assaulted, she was taken to jail on a charge of fourth-degree assault, as was Henry Hopman, 47. He also was arrested on a charge of FTA in connection with fraud/negotiating a bad check.
    • At 10:39 p.m., some dork caused an alarm by lifting off a sliding glass door at the Illinois Valley Golf Course clubhouse.
  • Sunday, Sept. 13
    • Someone on Warren Road said that they heard gunshots at 11:20 a.m.
    • People camping on forest service land at Page Mountain Sno-Park were warned about exceeding the limit for such activity.
    • Someone in Selma reported a runaway boy wearing skinny pants.
    • Although a woman felt that children were in danger and that there were marijuana plants at a Selma location, the site was checked and all was OK, deputies stated.
    • Six cats and a dog were in a Dick George Road house, said a real estate agent, who felt that they were malnourished and that there was an odor of rotting flesh. All was OK though. (And no rotting flesh was found).
  • Monday, Sept. 14
    • George Middel, 22, was cited on a DWS charge in Cave Junction at 12:50 a.m., and his vehicle impounded.
    • Burglars took a generator and some other stuff from a house under construction in Cave Junction.
    • Violation of a restraining order was reported on E. River Street.
    • After a boy, 9, visited his father, his mother in Cave Junction found .22-caliber pistol in the son’s backpack. The gun was said to be inoperable, lacking a cylinder.
    • “I’ll kill all three of them” was heard uttered by a man with a trashy car on E. River Street at 11:08 a.m., but no problem was located.
    • Two of three intoxicated men with empty beer cans and their legs extending into traffic as they sat on a curb in Downtown Cave Junction were told to leave.
    • Alicia Lowrie, 44, was cited on a charge of speeding near milepost 25, Hwy. 199.
    • A Cave Junction grandmother reported that her granddaughter, 21, took $500 from her. A civil compromise was reached.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 15
    • Because of seeing five semitrucks and trailers in the Selma area, a couple was concerned. But they were advised that the rigs likely were with Cycle Oregon.
