  • Wednesday, Aug. 26
    • No problem was noted after a hold-up alarm at 8:35 a.m. at a Downtown Cave Junction bank. However, it was acknowledged that there was a new employee on site.
    • Damage to a business sign and strewing of trash at a Downtown Cave Junction location was reported.
    • Gunshots were heard at 1:36 p.m. in the 37000 block of Redwood Hwy.
    • A man stated that he’d been assaulted about a month earlier. He was reporting now because he said, he’d received threats from the purported assaulter.
    • Wayne Ernest Nolan Jr., 37, was cited on a charge of speeding on Redwood Hwy. at Rockydale Road.
    • A lost, elderly woman was transported to her residence after she was found on Redwood Hwy. near CJ.
    • Two “kids” were said seen removing construction cones on N. Old Stage Road at 7:59 p.m. What baby goats would want with the cones was not logged.
    • At 10:03 p.m. a caller reported seeing two people rummaging inside a Downtown CJ business. Deputies detained one person at gunpoint. That person turned out to be the man who phoned. No evidence of a crime was uncovered, and the man went home to change his shorts.
    • In the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 10:18 p.m. a man was said to be hanging around a residence where he was unwelcome, and shining a flashlight through windows. It was not immediately known if he was looking for something or what.
    • A family squabble was reported on O’Brien Road at 10:32 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 27
    • Heather Butler, 21, was cited on a charge of speeding (79 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. in Selma at 12:34 a.m.
    • Joe Wilson and Kimberly Ann Wilson were ensconced in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault following a report of a disturbance in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. in Kerby at 1:35 a.m.
    • A rural Cave Junction resident reported receiving threatening phone calls from her ex-husband.
    • Nathan Ira Paige, 21, was cited on charges of domestic menacing and possession of a controlled substance/less than 1 ounce of marijuana.
    • Mark Elliot Rivett, 34, was cited on a charge of speeding (81 mph in a 55 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Wild Park Lane at 7:10 p.m.
    • Following investigation into an open burn, Oregon Dept. of Forestry officers asked that a deputy check on a Lone Mountain Road resident who threatened them. The deputy reported that the person cooks outside on a woodstove, and that was the source of the smoke.
    • John Joseph Wilkolawski, 53, was cited on a charge of speeding (67 mph in a 45 mph zone) near mile marker 32 on Redwood Hwy.
    • During a traffic stop at 11:34 p.m. on W. River Street the goosy driver ran away, ducking into a nearby home.
  • Friday, Aug. 28
    • American Medical Response rolled out at 12:05 a.m. to a W. River Street address to aid a 24-year-old man who’d reportedly been drinking “a lot.” A lot of what was not reported.
    • On Redwood Hwy. near Eight Dollar Mountain Road, Rex Robert Fifiled IV, 28, was cited on charges of driving while suspended and speeding
    • Christopher A. Carlton, 18, was cited on a charge of speeding (67 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Lakeshore Drive at 11:03 p.m. (76 mph in a 55 mph zone).
  • Saturday, Aug. 29
    • People causing a disturbance at an Illinois Valley RV park were told to leave by the owner, who was not a happy camper because of the disturbing people.
    • On Illinois River Road a man was cited on a charge of illegal camping and warned of trespassing.
    • While following up on a reported disturbance on Three Mill Road, it was discovered that persons in a travel trailer had illegally taken up residence on the cul-de-sac.
    • A rural Cave Junction woman said that she’d been receiving telephonic threats from her ex-husband.
    • On Lakeshore Drive a caller complained that someone was shooting a high-powered firearm behind his property, striking trees nearby. The shooters were contacted and said that they would take care to aim in a different direction.
    • It was reported that a shirtless, “muscle-bound” man was punching someone in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. No further calls were received, and the described puncher was nowhere to be found.
    • A man with a Chevy pickup truck full of wood was said to be trespassing on the Shop Smart Food Warehouse parking lot, where he was trying to sell firewood.
    • A Dick George Road resident stated that her daughter was assaulted by a young man who kicked in a door and slammed the daughter’s head against a wall for some reason. The victim declined to press charges, but the man was warned against trespassing at the residence.
  • Sunday, Aug. 30
    • After a 1:48 a.m. report of a motor vehicle accident on Upper Deer Creek Road, where the driver fled from I.V. Fire District personnel, Lee Edward Reiner, 44, was cited on charges of DUII and reckless driving.
