Little League to sell drinks to Tuff Trucks crowds
From our weekly issue dated September 02, 2009
As 2009 draws to a close, the I.V. Little League (IVLL) board members have been gearing up for the group’s major fund-raiser during the Illinois Valley Lions Labor Day Festival at Jubilee Park.
Along with the Little League information and sales booth on the strip at the park, IVLL will provide a concession stand at the Tuff Truck arena. The group will offer cold soft drinks and water to the public during the event.
“For the past two years, the I.V. Lions have offered us the opportunity to sell sodas and water at the Tuff Truck event, and it has become a major part of our fund-raising efforts,” said Janet Ewing, IVLL president.
“Last year’s sales helped us through this past year of tough times,” she said. “The money earned helped to pay for sponsorships of kids whose families just did not have the money this year to pay. Once again this year we will be ready to refresh each and every spectator and participant in the arena area. Just look for the baseball jerseys,” says Ewing.
She states that, “Preparing young athletes to become champions is a major part of the Little League program, and it has been with the help of many businesses, organizations and individuals, that Illinois Valley Little League has helped to prepare many kids over the years that have gone on to become champion athletes, and we are proud once again to be a part of the I.V. Lions Labor Day Festival.”
Parents who want to save on their fees for next year, can sign up at the IVLL booth and receive a discount for prepaying registration fees.
