Donald E. Woodruff
Donald E. Woodruff, 69, of Cave Junction, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cave Junction beginning at 11 a.m. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford OR 97501.
Mr. Woodruff was born July 8, 1940 in Sayre, Penn. and grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. After high school he left the farm, and in 1958 began working for Manzo Contracting Inc. in Oldbridge, N.J. as a diesel mechanic and heavy equipment operator. In 2005 he moved from New Jersey to Cave Junction.
He enjoyed walking with his wife and dogs; traveling; spending time with his grandchildren; and watching television, especially court shows.
Surviving are his wife, Flora M. Woodruff, of Cave Junction; a daughter, Tammy Woodruff, of Jackson, N.J.; three sons: Douglas Woodruff, of Sayreville, N.J., Donald M. Woodruff, of Toms River, N.J., and Danny Woodruff, of Montana; three sisters: Betty Lutz, of Nineveh, N.Y., Patricia Thompson of Chincoteague, Va., and Rosie Thompson, of Rhoadesville, Va.; a brother, Nelson “Jake” Woodruff, of Metuchen, N.J.; and 21 grandchildren.
Grant J. Campbell
Grant J. Campbell, 88, died Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Nona’s Place, an adult care home in Cave Junction.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 22 in the chapel at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Savage Street in Grants Pass. Viewing was conducted at the Relief Society Room.
Burial with military honors was conducted at Eagle Point National Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 24.
Mr. Campbell was born on April 1, 1921 in North Ogden, Utah to Rachel Lovenia Judkins and Isaiah Franklin Campbell. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He married Helen Rawson in Compton, Calif. on July 25, 1942. This year the couple celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
He worked as a production manager of a commercial water filter business until he retired. He then became a locksmith and opened his own business. He was always handy, and enjoyed building, traveling, gardening and being with his wife and family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, David Jay Campbell, of Post Falls, Idaho; two daughters: Elaine Rigby, of Cave Junction, and Debra Moon, of Chico, Calif.; three sisters: Lorena Barker, of Salt Lake City; Gean Ekstrom, of Harrisville, Utah; and Arabelle Jones, of Ogden, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
L.B. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
