  • Thursday, May 14
    • At Illinois Valley High School Megan Kate Franklin, 15, was cited on a charge of menacing in connection with a report of assault and lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass.
    • On Old Stage Road, Cari Lyn Miller, 48, was cited on a charge of VBR (violation of the basic rule) for excessive speed, which was listed as 39 mph in a 25 mph zone.
    • James A. Malan, 49, was cited on a charge of VBR. His speed was noted as being 39 mph in a 25 zone.
    • A man with a rifle who appeared “out of it” to several callers was reported walking on Waldo Road at 2:54 p.m.
    • The operator of a red-and-white, reportedly unlicensed Honda motorcycle, eluded an officer somewhere in the woods near Evergreen Elementary School around 5:30 p.m.
    • Contacted in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. Jeremy Justin Beck, 29, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on a charge of probation violation.
    • In rural Cave Junction a man was advised regarding the legal ramifications of using his prescription form as collateral to obtain a loan, when the person to whom he owed money would not return the form.
    • Nicodemus Levi Dodson, 19, was cited on a charge of speeding (65 mph in a 45 zone) on Redwood Hwy. at 9:32 p.m.
    • Contacted on Sherwood Avenue, Robert Lewis Freeman, 62, was cited on a warrant charging unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in county jail.
  • Friday, May 15
    • Employee error was determined to be the cause of an alarm at Evergreen Federal Bank received at 8:31 a.m.
    • Two men each claimed to have been threatened by the other on W. Lister Street at 1:53 p.m. This apparently stemmed from an altercation the night before at a Cave Junction service station.
    • A caller reported seeing an exchange of “items” between persons parked on a vacant lot on Gamay Court. The caller believed that the exchange was a drug deal.
    • In rural Cave Junction it was reported that a man was threatened by his (soon-to-be ex-) father-in-law.
    • Equipment had been stolen from a person on Eight Dollar Road, a caller said, and he was following the suspect’s vehicle. Those being followed were contacted by police, who photographed items in their vehicle.
    • Near Rough & Ready Creek bridge, David Sean Ginnetty, 56, was cited on a camping violation charge.
    • Michael Lee Davenport, 21, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS) on Reeves Creek Road at 6:03 p.m.
    • Ashley Rhea Arts, 17, was cited on a charge of VBR on Redwood Hwy. in O’Brien at 6:21 p.m.
    • Laura Dawn Dodson, 27, was issued a citation for a dog running loose in the 33000 block of Redwood Hwy. It had been reported that the critter had chased a person.
    • Tina Marie Hart, 41, was cited on a charge of speeding (38 mph in a 25 zone) on Shadowbrook Drive at 6:34 p.m.
    • On Laurel Road a woman said that she fired a warning shot for a pitbull dog that was at her fence line. She stated that the dog’s owner then fired a rifle toward her property. Deputies responded, and after one subject was tazed, Garnet Robert Smith, 57, was cited on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm. Another subject, who refused to give his date of birth or fingerprints, was lodged in county jail for interfering with a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon.
    • On S. Junction Avenue, a woman reported that her boyfriend’s intoxicated brother had pushed her into a car door. Following an altercation, residents were advised of their options.
    • A report of harassment, menacing and second-degree criminal mischief was pending following an altercation between the driver of a semitruck and another driver on Holland Loop at 6:14 p.m.
    • Following a consent search of a vehicle at Illinois River Forks State Park, Amber Leeanne Enos, 17, was cited on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (PCS, methamphetamine) and lodged in county jail. Summer Ann Marie Ruberio, 19, was cited and released on charges of PCS (less than an ounce of marijuana) and minor in possession of alcohol.
    • A man thought to have a medical problem because he was lying in the middle of Illinois River Road at 7:42 p.m. insisted that he was “just resting.”
    • On Deer Creek Road at 9:10 p.m. a man said that his girlfriend was freaking out and breaking beer bottles. She was warned about trespassing.
  • Saturday, May 16
    • Following a reported burglary at a restaurant in Selma at 12:43 a.m., the caller chased the suspect vehicle to a residence where a “verbal altercation” ensued. A report of second-degree burglary, and third-degree criminal mischief was pending.
    • A 96-year-old man in a wheelchair was reported struck by a vehicle as it was being backed from a parking space in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 2:34 p.m.
    • Judith Diane Roberts, 47, was cited on charges of failure to maintain a lane of travel, no valid operator’s permit and no insurance. The vehicle was impounded.
    • Referred to the county D.A. were charges of unlawful cutting and transport of special forest products against three men found in possession of a load of firewood in the 26000 block of Briggs Valley Road.
    • On Illinois River Road at “the Beach” campground, Briahli Darlene Theodoroff, 19, was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol; Mizrain Vazquez Jr., 23, was cited on a charge of disorderly conduct; and Robert Mikeal Shaw, 21, was cited on charges of furnishing alcohol to minors and disorderly conduct. All citations were federal, although the charge against Shaw of furnishing alcohol was to be referred to the county D.A.
    • In the 31000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 9:17 p.m. Colton Scott Lopez, 19, was cited on a charge of VBR.
    • About a dozen people who appeared intoxicated to a caller were “congregated and up to no good” on the parking lot of Ray’s Food Place in Selma at 9:02 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 17
    • On Borica Drive a woman reported that her dog had been shot, and she thinks she knows who did it.
    • It was reported that a man with a gun had been threatening people at a residence on Millie Street. However, no one would step forward as a victim, and no crime was evident.
    • Nothing suspicious was located although an alarm sounded at the CJ Post Office at 1:51 p.m.
    • In Kerby a mother reported that her daughter, 15, was “out of control” and had left headed toward Cave Junction with a knife in her purse.
  • Monday, May 18
    • Theft of a day-old miniature horse was reported on White Schoolhouse Road.
    • From N. Junction Avenue came a call from a mom who stated that her daughter took her ATM card and made several withdrawals.
    • A rural Cave Junction woman reported that her son, 16, had gone missing.
    • On Jeannie Way at 6:05 p.m. a woman advised that her son, who’d been drinking, was belligerent and out of control. He then passed out in the yard. He also threatened his AA sponsor.
    • At 7:36 p.m. a caller on Lakeshore Drive reported that a bald young man driving a black Cadillac two-door with California plates sped past at something like 100 mph.
    • A man found wandering on Redwood Hwy. in Kerby was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass on a peace officer’s mental hold.
  • Tuesday, May 19
    • At Shop Smart Food Warehouse in Cave Junction a man who’d been “trespassed” recently returned at 8:15 a.m. to threaten employees.
    • After returning twice more to threaten and fight with employees, as well as break things, Stacey Ray Ashenhurst, 39, was cited on a charge of first-degree criminal trespassing and lodged in county jail. His blood-alcohol content was reported to be .27 at the time he was booked.
    • Concerning a continuing problem with a neighbor’s dogs, a caller said that the other person tried to bribe her by offering to give her medical marijuana if she would stop contacting Animal Control. She stated that she has a medical marijuana card, and “is capable of getting her own.” She was given the Animal Control telephone number.
    • Following a 3:50 p.m. roll-over motor vehicle accident on E. River Street at Shadowbrook Drive, Moke Keoni Iokepa Martinho, 18, was cited on charges of two counts of third-degree assault, six counts of reckless driving, and no operator’s permit. Charges of recklessly endangering another were referred to the county D.A.
    • Unauthorized use of a burgundy-colored Ford Expedition was reported by a Cave Junction resident.
    • On White Schoolhouse Road a caller stated that she might have obtained information about who might have stolen her newborn miniature horse.
    • Theft of items from a concession booth at Jubilee Park was reported. The snack bar was damaged during the break-in, a caller said.
    • Seeking medical treatment for a shoulder injury at 8:43 p.m. a man said that he wanted to turn himself in. His probation officer agreed and Jeremy J. Beck, 29, was cited on a charge of probation violation and lodged in county jail.
    • Elizabeth Andrea McIntyre, 15, was cited on charges of first-degree theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and conspiracy to commit third-degree theft. She was lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass.
  • Wednesday, May 20
    • Sierra R. Reed, 26, was cited to appear on a warrant charging FTA on charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
    • An administrator at Lorna Byrne Middle School reported that two people had been camping on school property, and she wanted them “trespassed.”
    • Rita Carroll Bennett, 43, was cited to appear on charges of DWS and open container of alcoholic beverage on S. Kerby Avenue at 7:30 p.m. The vehicle was impounded.
    • On Borica Drive a man complained that a neighbor sprayed something into his trailer’s ventilation system, causing extreme illness to family members inside.
  • Thursday, May 21
    • A large brown horse, which had been loose in the 2000 block of Rockydale Road, was reunited with its owner.
    • A prowler was reported by a man in the 2000 block of Caves Hwy.
    • A man whose mining tools were said to be stolen from a claim near Fiddler Mountain wished to speak with an officer.
    • Numerous emergency units responded to a reported home invasion and disturbance on Millie Street in connection with a child custody issue. Several people were pepper-sprayed by the intruders and the assailant was hit with a baseball bat. The assailant fled and was eventually transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital by American Medical Response.
    • Contacted in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy., Neil Francis White, 57, was lodged in county jail on a warrant charging FTA on a second-degree criminal trespassing charge.
    • Gunshots were reported on Borica Drive.
    • On W. River Street at 6:32 p.m. a caller said that a man stepped in front of her car to stop and then yell at her. And he took a swing at her husband, she said.
