Fire board OKs $1.3 million budget
From our weekly issue dated May 20, 2009
A $1.3 million budget for the 2009-10 fiscal year was adopted 5-0 by the Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) Board of Directors during its meeting on Thursday night, May 14 at administrative HQ.
Administrative Assistant Robin Paulson told board members during the 50-minute long session that there were no changes to the budget since the IVFD Budget Committee approved it last month.
The budget calls for allocations of $527,246 for personnel; $342,744 in materials and services; $55,705 in debt service and $26,780 in contingency funds. It is based on a tax rate of $1.87 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Board member Edwin Butler moved to approve a resolution adopting the proposed budget. The motion was seconded by Dusty Bouchard and passed.
Also unanimously passed by the board were resolutions authorizing the transfer of $4,500 from the district’s reserve fund to the capital outlay line item, and the changing of a budgeting line item for fire prevention.
That change was necessary because the district received a $5,013 grant from the Oregon Dept. of Transportation to fund car seat clinics for those in need. The prevention line item in the budget had to be adjusted to reflect the change.
Another resolution was passed unanimously by the board to change budgeted personnel services to reflect a $6,200 Illinois Valley Community Development Organization grant for fuel reduction services to O’Brien residents.
