  • Thursday, May 7
    • While an officer was patrolling to check on ATVs in the Tennessee Mountain area, a person was contacted. A firearm was seized, and a charge of felon in possession of a firearm was referred to the district attorney.
    • Verl Verdel Boatman, 50, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on three charges of violation of a restraining order in connection with a woman in Cave Junction.
    • Family members had a verbal altercation on N. Boundry Avenue at 5:08 p.m.
    • On W. River Street a woman said that her neighbor let the air out of her vehicle’s tires, and that she had no idea why he would do this.
    • Scott Franklin Pope, 31, was cited under a Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety warrant charging contempt of court.
    • In the 9000 block of Holland Loop at 9:09 p.m., a woman complained that three men were shooting near her home. One man threatened to “shoot up her house” when she asked them to “take it elsewhere,” she said.
    • An intoxicated man, who at 9:23 p.m. reportedly would not move from the roadway on Caves Hwy., eventually did begin to motivate toward home.
    • At 9:41 p.m. a man in a silver-colored pickup truck was said to be driving around on Lakeshore Drive, squealing tires and yelling a woman’s name.
    • Although no medical assistance was requested, an Illinois Valley woman stated that she and her son were assaulted by a family member.
  • Friday, May 8
    • Theft of items from a residence in the 500 block of Caves Hwy. was reported.
    • A drunk-and-disorderly woman was said to be harassing customers in front of a business in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10 a.m.
    • Following a report that someone took $35 worth of items without paying from a book fair at Lorna Byrne Middle School, a 13-year-old boy was cited on a charge of third-degree theft.
    • At Illinois Valley High School, Jesse McGivern, 16, was cited on charges of minor in possession of tobacco and violation of release agreement. He was lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass.
    • Following a disturbance on N. Junction Avenue, Carl William Stevens, 25, was cited and lodged in county jail on a warrant charging failure to appear on a charge of domestic menacing.
    • Four shot glasses were discovered to be missing from a gift shop after a group of students visited Oregon Caves National Monument. One glass was recovered, and charges were referred to the Juvenile Justice Center.
    • From the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. a caller stated that a man he knows threatened him with a baseball bat.
    • A Pinewood Way resident reported theft of a barbecue grill from his porch. Also, the caller believed that the same person kicked his vehicle while it was parked in Downtown Cave Junction.
    • Officers reported having broken up a fight in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10:29 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 9
    • Information was requested by a landlord with property on Cowboy Way about “what caused her tenants to vacate” the residence, leaving “a huge mess.”
    • In Downtown Cave Junction at 4:02 p.m. a woman said that a man was “bugging her,” in violation of a restraining order.
    • David Wayne Sheldon, 24, was lodged in county jail on charges of probation violation, possession of a controlled substance (PCS)/less than an ounce of marijuana) and restraining order violation.
    • Montgomery Robert Leach, 22, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS) on Rockydale Road at 8:06 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 10
    • Two men were warned regarding a 14-day camping limit on BLM property off McMullen Creek Road.
    • Patricia Diane Davis, 43, was cited near Illinois River Forks State Park at 1:49 p.m. on a charge of driving uninsured.
    • In the 900 block of Caves Hwy. a woman stated that a roommate was intoxicated and threatening her. The situation later calmed down, and no further assistance was requested.
    • Theft of a truck from near a Krauss Lane location was reported. It appeared to be a “civil repossession,” a deputy stated.
    • Rita Carroll Bennett, 43, was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear on a charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
    • At 11:55 p.m. a caller complained that someone was four-wheeling in a pickup truck on the former Cabax Mill site in Kerby, across from Kerbyville Museum.
  • Monday, May 11
    • James William Richardson, 36, was cited at Illinois River Forks State Park on a charge of dog-at-large.
    • A rural Cave Junction man reported that his daughter snuck out of the house overnight. She was reportedly in the company of an 18-year-old man, who provided her with alcohol.
    • Three ATVs were reported stolen from an enclosed trailer in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy.
    • A report of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft was pending after a caller in Selma complained that her business had been entered overnight.
  • Tuesday, May 12
    • Theft of a paddle boat from a shed was reported by Lake Selmac Resort. The boat was found in a ravine.
  • Wednesday, May 13
    • Adam Lawrence Trautner, 22, was cited on a charge of speeding (70 mph in a 55 zone) on Redwood Hwy. north of Kerby at 1:43 a.m.
    • A property owner stated that a former tenant lied about the name and phone number of his former landlord when applying for new housing. The tenant had a family member pose as their former landlord for a reference, the complainant said.
    • Some 15 goats were on the roadway on Hogue Drive at 1:30 p.m., but someone had come along to retrieve them.
    • An aircraft was reported flying low and without power by witnesses at Illinois Valley High School at 2:52 p.m. The aircraft regained power and left the area, flying quickly east toward Medford.
    • Two azalea plants were reported stolen from the landscape at Home Valley Bank.
    • Three bicycles, an ax/ splitting maul and two folding chairs were reported stolen from a Caves Hwy. residence.
    • In Kerby a man stated that his girlfriend threatened him with a machete. The dispute was found to be verbal only, and the couple agreed to separate for the evening.
    • Verl Boatman, 50, was cited on charges of speeding (65 in a 45 mph zone), failure to renew registration, refusing a breathalyzer test, and DUII. His vehicle was impounded.
    • Hanne Jemimah Compton, 34, was cited on a charge of no operator’s permit on N. Old Stage Road at 11:05 p.m. Compton also was warned for failure to dim headlights, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
