Dog rally at lake May 16
From our weekly issue dated May 13, 2009
The valley will be going to the dogs this weekend.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 & 17 at Lake Selmac’s Trout Pavilion, Saint Bernard enthusiasts from several states will converge with their animals for a Saint Bernard Specialty, Sweepstakes, and Jr. Showmanship competition.
Additionally, there will be All-breed Obedience Trials and All-breed Rally Trials on Saturday.
According to Cave Junction resident Karen Bodeving, whose own Saint Bernards will be among contenders, 73 dogs are slated to compete on Saturday.
“The most fun to watch is the All-breed Rally,” Bodeving said. “It’s like a driver’s test with your dog. The judge sets up a course and the handler and dogs have to do what the signs tell them to.”
The public is welcome to attend.
