Auction, dinner to benefit Grad Night

From our weekly issue dated May 13, 2009

The place to be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, is the silent auction and dinner at Illinois Valley High School sponsored as an annual fundraiser by the IVHS Grad Night Committee.

The event accounts for a major portion of the monies needed to finance the 2009 IVHS Safe and Sober Grad Night Party.

The sit-down dinner, served by the IVHS Class of 2009, offers a “sumptuous meal” prepared by Cave Junction Mayor Don Moore (including a surprise dessert). There also will be an I.V. Booster Club booth, a live auction with the infamous Jim Frick at the mike and more surprises.

Booster Club members will be present in support of the night’s theme, “Show your Spirit, Let’s Paint the Night Red and White!” They will have information brochures available for guests, as well as club members to answer questions.

“Joining us in showing your spirit, by wearing red and white, could result in a few surprises around the room during this event,” said Bobbie Loyd, Grad Night chairman.

“This year we will also have a 20-minute live auction at the end of the evening for several larger items,” she said. “This will be a memorable event, regardless of the economy.

She further noted, “If you do not want to join us for dinner, come for the auction. admission is free for auction attendees not having dinner.

“You still have time to make a donation for the auction or get tickets.”

Phone Loyd at (541) 659-2028 to arrange for donated items to be picked up and to obtain dinner tickets.
