HORSEY HELPS - Acupuncture & First Aid for Horses, On or Off the Trail is the title of a free presentation by Dr. Beth Kraft, a veterinarian. The talk, sponsored by Back Country Horsemen Sourdough Chapter, will be held Saturday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Matthias Episcopal Church at the north end of Cave Junction near Z Coffee. WELSH WISHES - The sixth annual Welsh dinner is set for Selma Community Center on Saturday, March 21. On the menu: carrot-and-apple soup, Welsh lamb stew, Anglesey eggs, roasted veggies, and Mum’s fruit trifle. Tickets are available at the center office from 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays, or phone 415-1000.
YOUNG MOTORISTS - Driver education will be offered this spring at Illinois Valley High School through Rogue Community College. Classroom sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 7 through May 26 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. On-the-road instruction will be scheduled with the instructor. Students must register by April 1. Registration forms are available at IVHS, or contact Jennifer Marsden, 592-2116, for more information.
RAFFLE ROUND-UP - Some two-dozen Cave Junction and Grants Pass businesses have donated items for a fund-raising raffle for the 2009 IVHS girls softball team. Proceeds will go toward purchasing equipment. Contact coach Kenny Hix at 659-2009 for information.
GREEN SCENE - St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church, at 407 W. River St. in Cave Junction, will serve a corned beef-and-cabbage Irish dinner on Sunday, March 15, from 2 to 5 p.m. There also will be a raffle.

NOTEPAD - Illinois Valley Community Development Organization will hold its annual membership meeting at the new Business Entrepreneurial Center (RCC/Belt Bldg.) in Kerby on Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. Plans for community events to celebrate Oregon Caves Chateau’s 75th anniversary will be discussed. See the ad on page 2 ... All-congregational meetings for Illinois Valley churches this year will be held quarterly. The first is set for April 5 at Takilma Bible Church… County sheriffs in Oregon are lobbying through the association to which they belong for more money.
