What do B.B. King, Robert Cray, Kris Kristofferson, Eddie Money, the Vienna Boys Choir, Queensryche and The Smothers Brothers have in common? At some point or another, they have graced the stage of the Rogue Theatre in Downtown Grants Pass.

Located at 143 S.E. H St., the theater first opened in 1938 and showed the latest cinematic offerings for several decades. But by 1999, increased competition from a variety of alternative media forced closure.

Luckily, the theater was able to reopen its doors in 2000 as a regional nonprofit performing arts center governed by a volunteer board of directors, and has been offering quality entertainment ever since. That trend will continue this season, as a series of high-profile artists are scheduled to appear.

On Saturday, March 21, legendary acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke, famous for his unique finger-picking style, is scheduled to perform. Tickets for that show are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Billed as “the world’s first Celtic all-star Grateful Dead jam band,” Northern California septuplet Wake the Dead is slated for Saturday, April 4. Ashland-based Americana quintet One Horse Shy will be the opening act. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 in advance.

Guitar legend Robin Trower will visit the theater on Friday, May 15. Tickets for that performance are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

World-famous psychic Sylvia Browne has a three-day stint planned for May 22, 23 and 24. The first two shows will begin at 7 p.m., with the third set as a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Browne frequently appears on the Montel Williams show and Larry King Live.

Tickets for all three Sylvia Browne shows are $55 for general admission, $75 for gold and $95 for platinum.

The popular Portland-based rock trio, Floater, will perform on Friday, May 29. Floater has played at the location regularly during the years with electric and acoustic sets. This show will cost $20 for advance tickets and $25 at the door.

Ticket outlets for Rogue Theatre shows include Blue Moon Antiques & Collectables, Oregon Outpost, Larry’s Music, Aquarius Books & Gifts and The Music Shop in Grants Pass; the Music Coop in Ashland; and Larry’s Music in Medford.
