Students may receive free tickets to hear dynamic young cellist Elinor Frey perform Elgar’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in E Minor with the Rogue Valley Symphony in concerts on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28 and March 1.
Vouchers are available for Josephine County students to attend the concert for free at 3 p.m. on March 1 at the Grants Pass High School Performing Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St. This “audience choice” series of concerts also features the orchestra playing Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2, Smetana’s The Moldau, and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony No. 8.
Vouchers for free tickets are distributed to area schools and music teachers. They also can be obtained by phoning Bob Frantz of the Grants Pass Friends of the Symphony at 476-5843.
“Connecting with the Classics” vouchers are available from the Education Programs link at rvsymphony.org.
Each voucher is valid for one student who must be accompanied by an adult, who may also attend the concert for free. All seats are reserved. For more information phone (541) 552-6398 Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The student voucher program has been implemented by the Grants Pass Friends of the Symphony, as one of its many efforts to educate and encourage youth to attend live orchestra concerts.
“The Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra is generously supported by 2008-2009 season sponsors, Jim Collier, and Fred Meyer Stores,” it was announced.
