George ‘Ed’ Edward Michels
George “Ed” Edward Michels, 85, of O’Brien, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at a health center in Grants Pass. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at Takilma Bible Church.
Mr. Michels was born on June 12, 1923 in Pasadena, Calif. to George Vincent Michels & Mildred (Eyer) Michels.
He moved to O’Brien in 1955 from Twentynine Palms, Calif. He was an automobile mechanic and well driller prior to retirement. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by a daughter, Mildred Louise Stepp, of O’Brien; two sons, Dale Michels, of O’Brien, and George V. Michels, of Gold Beach, Ore.; a sister, Betty Christy, of Redding, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Michels; a daughter, Rose Michels; and a brother, George V. Michels.

Owen Ellsworth Timmons
No service is planned for Cave Junction resident Owen Ellsworth Timmons, 84, who died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Timmons was born on March 4, 1924 in Rensselaer, Ind. in Jasper County where he was raised. From 1943 to 1949 he served in the U.S. Army. In 1994 he moved from the Applegate community of Josephine County to Cave Junction.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, LaVera J. Timmons, of Cave Junction; a daughter, Mildred Shaw, of Eugene; a son, John Timmons, of Woodburn; two brothers, Chauncey Timmons, of Melbourne, Fla., and Charles Timmons, of Indiana; two sisters, Della Dill, of Indiana, and Lucy Timmons, of Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
