Political puppies
From Ken Stepp
O’Brien

We are raising six lovely Welsh Corgies, now 10 weeks old. As newcomers to this endeavor we attempted to teach them to read, and have kept them exposed to newspapers from around the area in their library, which is approximately 40 percent of their allotted area.

The response to this has been controversial. Since the newspapers are of a Democrat lean we have come to the conclusion, based on what the puppies do to the papers, that they are Republicans.

Now we are uncertain as to the ethics of selling a Republican puppy into a Democrat’s home.

Elect honest atheists
From Wally Hardie
Selma

It has come to my attention during the past several years that various politicians have gone to prison for a wide variety of criminal offenses.

They took an oath and swore on the Christian Bible that they would uphold the duties and responsibilities of office. But Republican and Democrats have been arrested for fraud, lying under oath, money scams, cheating on their income tax, sexual crimes, and the list goes on. I, as others, have listened as they made promises that down the way they broke, the latest being the governor of Illinois attempting to sell a seat in the Senate of the United States.

If this governor or any of the others prosecuted, and who will be prosecuted, were atheists they would never have been given the opportunity to be elected, never be allowed for an elective office. Who in their right mind would vote for an atheist? Why, there is no telling of the crimes they might perpetrate.

It is conceivable they could cheat on taxes or lie under oath, and we damn sure don’t want any one in office that would do crimes while in office. We must be very sure to vote only for those who attend church on a regular basis and swear on stacks of Bibles that they will never break God’s laws. And should they break God’s laws they must repent and cry in front of congregations.
