Beware scams
From our weekly issue dated November 12, 2008
Josephine County Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens to beware of phone calls from people identifying themselves as fraud or security investigators for a credit card company.
These callers are seeking three-digit security numbers or PINs.
“Instead of providing the caller with any information,” said Sheriff Gil Gilbertson, “simply tell them you will call VISA or Mastercard yourself – and hang up.”
The credit card company has its customer information, so there is no need to provide or verify further.
