October busy month for CJ city officer

With a total of 226 activities during October, Cave Junction city contract Officer George Gasperson of Josephine County Sheriff’s Office characterized the period as “a busy month.”

Gasperson addressed the city council during its meeting in city hall Monday night, Nov. 10. His list of October activities, including a crosswalk traffic enforcement operation at Hwy. 199 and River Street, resulted in 29 traffic stops and 14 citations.



He also issued 24 warnings, and conducted nine area checks and 19 investigations. The officer also conducted 14 field interrogations, 13 Community Oriented Policing visits, and three welfare checks.

City Recorder Jim Polk told the council that the city collected $1,792 in fines during October; for a total of $4,034 from July 1 through October. Also received were $700 worth of vehicle impound fees, for a total of $1,400 this fiscal year to date.
