From our weekly issue dated November 12, 2008

Second Friday Art Walk welcomes Evergreen Elementary School PTA as it teams with I.V. Boys & Girls Club for a special open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14.

Families and friends can visit the school cafeteria to enjoy a student art show, a special book fair and a fun craft corner for the kids. They also can discover volunteer opportunities including the “Start Making A Reader Today” program.

View recent work by Sue Jines, this month’s Featured Artist, at Special Productions in the SOFCU Community Credit Union building at Hwy. 199 and Lister Street.

I.V. Senior Center also will be celebrated during Second Friday Art Walk. The public can visit Home Valley Bank between 4 and 6 p.m. to view oil paintings by a group led by Meg Kelsey. These paintings will be displayed throughout the month during regular business hours. Next door, the Upstairs Art Gallery will host “Learning Through Art” projects from Lorna Byrne Middle School.

The public is asked to use the exterior stairs to view students’ fanciful art depicting El Dia de Los Muertos.

At the Josephine County Bldg., the Senior Center Line Dancers will perform at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the I.V. String Band will play live music as Donna Belle and friends call out the traditional steps. All are welcome to participate; no experience or partner required.

Next to the DMV office, the I.V. Safe House Alliance will welcome Sue Williams playing classical guitar. In the continuing self-help health series, Family Nurse Practitioner Joya Feltzin will give a 15-minute presentation at 6 p.m. on a new, natural family planning technique. Also, Heidi Rousseau will offer a holiday sale on her handcrafted jewelry.
